I don't know if you ever stop being a biker but I rode with the scene for over 25 years. We weren't 1%rs but we were pretty hard core. I've driven hours in the rain on bikes with full leathers. And despite what cows say, leather is not waterproof. Been caught in the rain with a wife beater and shorts, and the wife on the back dressed also in a halter. We learned how bad rain stings at 50 mph that day.

There's a biker saying that sorta transfers over to the Tacoma addiction........"If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand".

It's not for everyone but this forum and this lifestyle is as close to that brotherhood as you can come.

True, but i like hanging with my Toyota Peeps better. My dad is big in the cruiser scene in Colorado, and is a top dude in his MC chapter. Just not for me. I like TTC better lol

You are right, however, the bike group thing has become less about bikes an comradeship and more about money and alpha crap.

When I started riding you could talk to mechanics at the shop, riders would stop to help another no matter what you rode, and the meet ups were after a spirited ride or a weekend thing. The gangs did their stuff some other place, and it was more like family. Now it seems everyone has to have “colors” and live the club 24-7.

If TTC ever gets like that I will give it up like I gave up street riding with anyone.

There should only be 2 absolutes in life.... death and taxes, everything else is a negotiation.

    Just my 2

Agreed and my experience as well.

Good question! I prefer road racing, but drag racing could be fun, too.

I don't know who the F you hang out with, but I don't know of anyone that does that. There is one group here that I know a few of the folks. It's called Club of Independent Riders, or some wack crap like that. I asked them if Club and Independent wasn't kind of an oxymoron... they tossed me out of their FB group after I gave them too much grief about their little Ride To Eat soirees...

Gonna be a bit of cash to get that bike to be able to run something like COTA. The primary would drag on the corner copping before you had it at 15% lean. Can be done, but, you could go get an SV650 just for track for about the same price....used obviously..... just in case you get the track bug.....bastard is incurable.

Random areas. I'll ride around the circumference of lake Belton, out onto the roads west of Lampasas, I'll make trips to Harley dealers that I haven't been to because I like collecting poker chips.

Yes and retreads in their little local clubs. Even the military clubs have the same crappy social environment.

    Hit us up on NAAME:

    https://www.meetup.com/North-Austin-Area-Motorcycle-Enthusiasts/

I'm one of the ride organizers, and can be seen in the far corner, right side, at Old 300 in Blanco; a ride I led just before my shoulder surgery in February. All kinds of bikes; I was on my Wing that day, we had a few Harleys, and even a MotoGuzzi! Did about 225 miles that day, so definitely not long, but with lunch, about a 4 -5 hour getaway. We meet around the Hwy 29 and 183 area, and do rides up in your area as well; when I get back riding in a couple of months, I'm going to map out a good ride that will end up at the Horny Toad in Cranfill's Gap.

Don’t hang in that scene anymore Jeff.
My best rides have always been with friends or just showing up at a twisty road or track and meeting people to ride with for the day.

Even track racing is being infiltrated by the “groups”. Last time I went to a just for fun track day, Ruff Ryders showed up, Cocky Ridaz, Geezer Tribe and a couple of others..... To “race”..........lowered bikes with extended swings don’t pass tech.......cops called, harassment of non group riders, yada yada.

Even on my own I have been harassed by M/Cs just cause I run an R1, or I refuse to stoplight race......just sayin, I ain’t scared of em, but, I don’t need to associate with an element that take a recreational hobby way to seriously.

Same thing I like and same problem I've had, getting gas or going to eat, except that I haven't taken my bike racing

I’ve got the big issue of every ricer boy or tiny prick in a “super car” wants to go full on down the freeway....Saturday and Sunday the Ruff Ryders were in the parking lot of the hotel just running circles and acting like asses...

Not saying everyone is like that, just seems that I find it more and more these days.

I might be, have not fired off the R1 in more than a year.
Down here it is the cage drivers and all the cell phone crap that makes it less fun than it should be.
Plus my left knee is so shot I limp for a day or two after a ride.
