It was freaking hot lol. 24/7 fixing fires managing work/rest cycles at the flame front to prevent heat injuries and "jumping" all over the back ranges by 36 to create flame walls and barrier lines to slow the spreading and control it. It was kinda apocalyptic, and a cool/super-shitty detail lol

Hump that 5" from one side of the field to the other. If you want something for at home, see if they have any old unusable 1.5" hose, you dont need the couplers, just hack them off, fold over and put a bolt through to close it, then fill it with 1 bag of masonry sand and close the other end the same way. Gives you the weight and stiffness of a charged line without using water.

 

Funny you should mention that... I was using the 5". It's the real damn deal. Sucker lets you know who you are real quick.

Great advice about the unusable hose. I think we have a roll or of 1.75" that someone ran over the couplings, so I'll ask if I can snag one.

 

I build a couple of them for each station to use for daily workouts. We have few hydrants in the woods so we get to hump 5" at least 4-5 100' sections to the boat or a dry hydrant. Now that is a workout, before even starting the fire attack.

 

Also makes good cooler hinges, tire swings, winch softeners and all kinds of stuff
