Let me get a little better on the searing / presentation.

Negatory. I like the taste of A1, but it'll never see a steak of mine unless I'm forced to eat it well-done.

    I prefer medium.

I have one of these things. Maybe it has enough umph to sear something? I'm new to this whole grilling business, but so far I'm enjoying myself and I haven't yet set anything on fire or ruined food.

I thought about searing the steaks inside on a flat iron, but every time my wife does it, the fire alarms go off. Wasn't in the mood for that yesterday evening.

I don't disagree either but @Lurkin is right. Natural gas is less mess, and when we built the house we had a natural gas line plumbed to the back porch so we could one day build a small outdoor kitchen.

For steaks I like to get the grill real hot and sear them well and then I take one of my skillets and throw it on the grill and melt some butter and then toss it in there with some mixed garlic. Makes the skillet look nasty but the steak tastes amazing.

I too like steaks and hanging out...:)

I ordered a steak at Tbone Tom's rare one time that I think winked at me. It was pretty good but didn't have the same flavor of their steaks when cooked a little longer so I usually go med-rare now when I order there.

I have yet to be impressed by T-Bone Tom's. The food is all right at best, the consistency of food quality is lacking, and the service is abysmal.

It's been a while since I went but I feel like the quality of both food and service take a nose dive when they're busy. On the few times I've gone when it was slow everything was very good. I honestly feel like Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn Steakhouse make better steaks than they do most of the time and they're usually cheaper and less crowded.

Tookies is my burger place. I haven't been to stomps though.

I have a simplistic method for my gas grill and steaks where if I am not wanting to prep and take time, and the steaks are not of great quality. I just take the grill to about 425, then throw them on and grill on one side for 3-5 minutes, depending of size and how thick they are, then 2-3 minutes on the other side. Gets them to about med-rare to med, which is perfect for me. You can fine tune the times with a temp probe if you need it to a closer range.

I may get some grief, but it's a quick and easy way and the results are "satisfactory". Can easily get it better with prep time and fuel choice, just depends on time and mood.

I think the arm-uh-diller eggs are the best thing going for them.

Longhorn is actually pretty good.

The very first time I went to Tookies, I loved it. I've been once or twice since then and it was just ok. Not sure which time was the better representation of their product.

Pretty sure I'm getting a burger for lunch...and having steak tomorrow. Thanks Y'all!

    Stomps is the original Tookies.

Owners of Stomps are the original owners of Tookies.

Tookies has almost always been good for me. :notsure:The only bad experience was one where we were there right after the power went out so everything was rushed and sort of off.
