    I have a Cobra 29 with a 3ft Firestik on a Caliraised mount.

The radio doesn’t make much difference in performance, because they are all 4 watts output. Just choose one that fits where you want it, has the features you want, whatever. I have a huge radio because I bought it for $10 and found a place to mount it.

The antenna is the most important part. Generally the longer the better, but even more important is tuning it. Look into tuning SWR no matter what setup you decide to run

This is how I have my CB in the truck, went to a truck stop and got the hunger. So when I do use It I can just pull down and it’s out of the way and no I don’t drive with that out. Only when I need it, And this is the speaker

It’s really easy to tune, especially with a firestik. They have a tunable tip under the rubber end cap that makes it really quick and easy

Oh I like the idea of a temporary mount hanging like that! Makes it easier to hear and use!

Another one of my problems I wired it to the spod not directly to the battery and get some interference when I turn on a aux light or press the window button.:anonymous:

I get interference from my lights too. Just turn the squelch up slightly until it goes away. You’ll still get incoming traffic but you won’t get the static from the lights

I am running a Uniden PRO505XL + firestik co-phasing harness + dual firestik 6 footers. Have the unit under the seat, the antennas in the bed corners with C4 fab mounts, have the little speaker too but only plug it in when i need it, works well, range is good, wired straight into the fuse panel, works.

I use quick disconnects to take them off when not in use, that way they don't walk.
