Who drives the TTC badged Lexus at Leander FD?

Well, damn truck ate the battery again. It’s a 17 and I’m on the 4th battery. Factory, 2 NAPA, and now a Duracell form battery’s plus. Happens after three to four days of sitting. On a meter I get a 80 to 87 milliampere draw when off/parked. Something has got to be turning it’s self on in the middle of the night and draining the battery. Any ideas from the collective?

 

Have you installed anything?

 

Remote start, kicker amp.

 

I am skeptical that the drain would be at the amp because the stereo already has an A/C cutoff, so a more likely troubleshooting starting point would be with the remote start.

 

Good luck chasing those gremlins - I understand they're very hard to catch.

 

I have the exact same remote start setup in my 4Runner. Same amp draw when off, and it can sit for a month and start right up. Electrical gremlins suck.

 

Then I'm stumped without a voltmeter and a psychic.

 

An amp is usually connected directly to the battery but has a trigger wire to turn on with the head unit. I’d suspect the amp is your draw.

 

If I may suggest checkin’ the alarm. That “fade to black” or dimming dome light thing drove my alarm crazy until I figured it out. They like an On/Off, not this slow dimming stuff. Was almost at the graspin’ at straws point before this dawned on me. The fix would be alarm dependent.

 

Power wire from amp to battery shows zero draw when truck is off, unless it’s turning itself on at night it’s got gremlins.

One other thing. Even though you don’t have an alarm, you still have an immobilizer ignition. For the remote start to “get along” with the immobilizer part you need the right shunt. I went through this with two trucks & the shunt fixed were different for each one. If you don’t have this the immobilizer keeps sendin’ out that signal & waits for the response until the battery drains or cooks itself. Sorry, I’m not bein’ very clear, at work at the moment.
