So I decided i wanted tube steps... I wanted them to be stream line, simple, not bulky, not expensive, etc. I decided to build them so i could make them like i want and it gave me something to do. So here is what i came up with...

Started with $60 in steel and a general idea of what i wanted...
20ft 1 1/4in tube and 13ft 1 in tube (yeah a little to much but i can always use extra)
    10GA flat sheet
    [IMG]

Card board cutout to make the brackets that fit
    [IMG]

    Trace it out...

And start cutting (I used a grinder with 4 1/2in cutoff wheel)

Grind and clean it up, used flap disks here mostly

    The basic bracket put together

At this point I climbed under the truck bolted the bracket to the truck and aligned the 80in backbone tube inplace. Then I tack welded the remainding brackets inplace, removed and finished the welds.

    Basic frame completed.

    On the truck
    [IMG]

The steps will be next... (cutting tubing at 22.5 deg angles is not that easy with a 4.5in grinder, then notching tubing to fit.... it takes time)

    stay tuned...

If so I hope the OP would get the plate laser cut to save all that cutting with a grinder, that's a pain in the ass.
