Check my pictures for the ones I got. I believe they are the exact same as the toyota OEMs, but black ABS over aluminum. Not powdercoated, which I would have liked but from what I hear these are better since theres no paint to chip, and the abs provides a little bounce if hit by gravel so they dont get tore up so fast.

Thanks EricT. Where are your pictures please?
    Again...
Looking for 89" black tubes for wheel to wheel on 09 DC Long Bed.
    I know of these options:
    1. n-fabs T0589CC
    2. Toyota OEM (but understand these do not come in black, so paint 'em?)

Does anyone know of more options?
    Thanks for any input!

Just installed the Toyota "tube" steps yesterday. Clearcoated aluminum.
    - cheaper than aftermarket
    - closer to body than aftermarket
    - hold me - 240lbs
    - look right
    - installation was a snap (1/2 hour to do both sides with hand tools)
    - quality brackets and SS fasteners

I'd have preferred black running boards if not too wide. Toyo didn't offer them in Canada, for 2wd access cab. Aftermarket products started at $100 more and as much as $500 more.

I'm quite impressed with the quality and fact the cab was prepped to accept them.

BK1, do your sliders give you any place to step? I know with the Shrockworks ones they're really close to the body. I need something that can double as a step for my wife, and I like the look of the sliders way better than the nerf bars...

    Bradley,

mine do give a 'step' to get up and in , my mom and gf but have trouble cuz of the height, but they work. if you paint them with a textured paint it will help, mines a smooth paint, and it can be slippery.

the other idea i was thinking was to install a checker plated deck between the rails at all the 4 doors to give it more of a step. The gf got a heel caught once and almost took a spill.

besides that, nice and solid saved my body a handful of times and my hi-lift now has a side lifting point

BK1, If you do not mind my asking, who did the fabrication? Did you have an initial design (plan) for the fabrication? I like the looks and length of your bars and wondering if the maker would do another set - or get the plans for a shop in my town.

I have the same style truck - Double Cab Long Bed.
    Just investigating the possibility!
    thanks

The sliders were made my a welder buddy i know in Vancouver, we just measured out the length of the sliders (94") and he did the rest.

    http://www.trail-gear.ca/default.cfm?fa=products&prodcategoryid=16

this was the bases of the design and he took care of the rest.

I went and picked em up and they just barely fit in the back of my long bed(diagonally) so i'm not sure about shipping.... i can ask and see what he says.

the final welding, drilling, bolting and painting was done by me so they just came in part. 2x Sliders, 8x 10" tubes and 8x 'L' plates for the frames

I'll take a few pics fo the sliders and post in case u can find someone to make em

Understand, thanks for your reply. You have some metal working skills that I lack. Even if your welder buddy has a materials list that would be helpfull. I would look at getting the made around here. Do they meet the same specs as the trail-gear?
Thanks again for sharing your info!

I hate to repeat my self, but what about some skateboard grip tape? Should be pretty easy to slap on and it will stay on there until you want it gone. You could even get fancy with it and cut some crazy designs in it.

Geo the sliders area bit thicker then then trailgear ones i dont remember the exact specs..

as for the skate board tape, i dont know how that would last with the weather...or stick to the metal

You'd be surprised! I've used the stuff on a number of my guns and on my 30 round mags that made it all the way through a very harsh 8 months in afghanistan. If I had some bars on my truck I'd put some on there right now just to try it out. Putting it on and then applying heat with a blow drier or just letting them bake in the sun will make sure they stay on there for a while.
