I noticed on the Toyota's website the silver tube steps are only available for some models and they have the black tube steps for all models.

Does anyone know what models the silver tube steps are available for?

I was planning on getting a set when I get my tacoma in a few weeks time.

    Thanks for the input

Silver tube step is available to any model. Black is not tube step, it running board and it available any model. I am not 100% positive on those parts, call them and ask. I have silver tube step on my truck since 2009. No problem at all.
My best bet to get the avid offroad. It looks cool and great price. It up to you.

On the toyota site they have black and silver tube steps now in addition to the black running board.

I was trying not to call toyota yet as I am sending out the request for quotations next week.

(just planning my long list of stuff to buy...)

I did consider the Avid step but won't be doing too much offroading (for now) and just need something the wife can use as a step to get into the truck

I too was looking for the silver tube steps at one time. I was told by Toyota that the silver tubes are now discontinued. Black tubes are now the replacement. Running boards and tube steps have two different part numbers and are not the same. I think going with black tube steps actually was the better choice for me...I went with Black wheels and painted the skid plate (another toyota accessory) black..

The avid steps arent made for off-roading. They were just made for steps but they look great and I would recommend them for sure!!;)

I just put some black Smittybilt tube steps and love them. My wife is 5 ft nothing and can now get in fairly easy. I am happy in how they look.

I do have to say that I really like those CBI sliders on PSU's truck. I wish I would have seen those first.

If you're looking for a step, that is what Toyota intended for thier step to be...I wouldn't trust them for protection when off roading. I removed the front mud flaps due the size of my tires. The tube steps do help keep road debri off the side where as if I had removed the mud flaps and no tube steps it would be exposed more. Toyota sold me my set for $359 shipped to the dealership back in March.

First time you go out 4x4ing and scratch and dent these things up..it will look like crap....I would stay away from these. Use them as a step/looks only....they are ok
