Placed an order for a 2022 long bed off road (not pro) but couldnt get a straight answer from the sales person on which tires would come with it. There is an "all terrain tires" option for an additional $700+

Any one know which tires would be on the vehicle if I dont pay for all terrain vs if I do?

I thought all off road editions came stock with all terrain wranglers.

    thanks

I don't know what it comes with. But I'd go with the cheapest option and buy the tires I liked best after it comes in. You can sell whatever tires come with it.

Do not give dealership 700 for random tires.
Order the tires you want, and sell the new take offs.

Historically, they have used Goodyear Wranglers for the stock A/T tires.

Agree with all of the above.

Buy the tires you want from a proper tire shop. Get the side benefit of a tread warranty that they actually honor, plus free flat repairs.

I agree with everyone else. The sales person probably just didn’t know what they were talking about, I have never seen an off-road at a dealership that had something other than the Good Year wranglers.

although who knows maybe they’ve changed that now and are making people pay extra for what they used to call “stock”.

I absolutely would say pick out your own tires and don’t give the dealership any extra money.

They need to be able to tell you what the stock tire is, and what you get for the extra $700. I know the general opinion is the Wranglers/Kevlar OEM tires on the OffRoad are crap, but I've found them to be pretty good. I don't do off roading for the sake of off roading, but rather go off road to get somewhere and these Wranglers have been great for that and preform pretty good on the street. I doubt I'll replace them with the same tire when they wear out as they are pretty pricy. A bran new set as take-offs with just a few miles on them will bring a pretty good price if you choose to go that way. Anyway, the dealer needs to tell you this stuff.

Many dealers will upgrade the tires in-house. Some dealers may have good tire pricing. Figure out what they are upgrading the factory tires to, and compare pricing with buying new tires yourself and selling the take-offs.

I can't tell you what your dealer is offering in this "upgrade".

My 21 TRD OR came with Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventures w/ Kevlar in 265/70/16 https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires/wrangler-all-terrain-adventure.
By my uneducated "eye test" I would put these in more of an HT category than an AT category.
So far they have been proven the worst AT tire I have ever used in actual off-road situations.

That said, I didn't feel as if their snow / ice performance was that bad.

I spend enough time playing in mud puddles that I'm now doing some dedicated MTs and will use the factory Goodyear ATs as winters until I wear them down. At that point I may do some dedicated snows.

I wouldn't give the dealer an extra $700 for unknowns, but that doesn't mean they might not offer a good deal.

Toyota website shows these as the stock tires for trs offroad (not pro) but tires are not listed in the details so hard to know.

my 2021 DCSB TRD OR was going to get switched to goodyear duratraks at the (SE) port.
I was able to eliminate all port (and dealer) add ons. It came with the highway looking tread kevlar wranglers.

I had 265/75 BFG's a/t's put on at 65 miles. Couldn't stand the look of the stock tire. Gave my originals to a hunting buddy who had 50k on his TRD OR factory tires.
