Thanks bro! This all came about because of my deer hunt. I had 5 days to hunt, first time me and my pops had been hunting together in almost 20 years. I popped a buck on the morning of day 2, on an 85° day. There was no shade at camp and we had to pack up and haul ass home so the meat wouldn't spoil. We were both bummed about cutting the trip short. My parents had given me a rapala cutting board that I wanted, as a birthday gift, the day before the hunt. So after the hunt I installed z channel on my tailgate to slide the cutting board into and ordered the awning. Now I can skin and quarter game at camp, in the shade, get it on ice, and keep camping.

Here's the board with the deer on it:35555.jpg

    Installed on the tailgate

It's the rhino rack dome awning. I've been wanting it for a couple years and I happened to find it on sale for 20% off so I pulled the trigger on it. It's the only time I've ever seen it for less than $300. It's awesome bro. I can move around freely under it without having to duck and I can stand upright at the tailgate to do whatever I need to do.IMG_20171123_085820467_HDR.jpg

One of my buddy's warned me against getting this one. He said that it'd get torn up on a windy day, but the flat ones don't get caught by the wind at all. I can see his point but I really wanted this one. I never liked the idea of having to duck under an awning. I guess I'll find out on the first windy day when I have it set up. I'm hoping it'll hold up ok.

Right now I'm just trying to figure out a way to lock it to the truck. I don't like having my shit being able to be stolen by any asshole with a pair of channel locks.

Definitely gotta lock that up! I've never heard that about the dome but I guess I can see that.

He was just reasoning that it could be a problem. It's not that he'd seen it happen or anything. I can see it happening too but you never know until you see it in person. It's made well. Same type of thick ripstop material as an RTT, and it will shed rain well so that's a plus. Bottom line is, in a strong enough wind, any awning would need to be taken down to prevent damage so I figure it's a trade off on having headroom for being a bit more careful with it.
