Tuffy Box install with pics

The reason I wanted to know where ThomasMore66 got his was for the fast shipment he got.

In comparing prices, this is what I found to the closest dollar including shipping to the US east coast:

I will probably purchase from TRD Parts 4U for the reputation of the company over the price. I'd rather spend $10 more and actually get the product.

I did get it way fast, but I'm in a Dallas suburb.

 

I got rid of my slim toolbox for a bed basket set up. I plan on getting one of these, maybe two, and a gobi stealth box to put in my basket. i think this will give me enough outside lockable storage for tools and whatnot instead of cluttering up my back seats/floorboard.

Installed! Holds all my tie downs and recovery gear which isn't too much. One of you creative guys needs to come up with a way to have a second one where the power outlet resides.

 

I have pricing: Stainless steel door AND will accomodate you Power Outlet guys.... And so far, it will be just a bit more $ than the Tuffy.
More storage capacity than Tuffy, Stainless door, and you can add the power Outlet (and no sloped "roof") for you TRD owners...... But I need to have 100 made to be able keep cost down... I will be taking names under a new thread soon. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.

Put me on your list. I like the compressor option. I don't see myself with air lockers, but airing tires and such would be cool.

 

How much bigger than the Tuffy box ?

 

Apparently just bigger.

 

My box has approximately 1063 cubic inches of storage space. The Tuffy box: "the Tuffy replacement lockbox has 710 cubic inches of lockable storage which is over double what the original factory model has."

Or as the OP, Cmurder said: 5 propane bottles worth of storage.

Now that I'm on my computer vs. mobile device, I like how the outlet is mounted to the side. That's slick. Apparently I'm going to end up with a bunch of keys for all the stuff in my bed. I never use the outlet, but I still want it available in case I ever figure out what really works with it.

 

So what ? Just deeper I presume ? Kinda looks like all the other dimensions are fixed

 

I don't have my truck yet (this week), but if you make a box like the one in the pics above which relocates the outlet so it faces forward instead of toward the middle and increases the space on the passenger side, I'd be interested.

 

My wife got me a Tuffy Box for Christmas.

Installation was fairly easy.
For the bottom center bolt, I went with a hex headed bolt and used an open end wrench to tighten it up.

 

That bottom center bolt is tough to tighten...I ground down my star bit until it fit and then used a small wrench to turn the bit. I ordered mine with a combo lock so I don't have to mess with keys. Chas at Total Auto Performance gave me a great Black Friday deal on the package.

 

I like mine. No leaks.

I kinda like that. However, go back to post 77 and there's one that opens up the room on this box and places the outlet sideways. I think that's a better solution and waterproof. My Tuffybox doesn't leak.

 

Same here. I've had my TuffyBox for almost 3 years now and it's never leaked. I really don't know if it actually could leak being that I it's mounted on the side with a vertical door. My smaller cubby with a door on the other side has never leaked either as fas as I know.

I really don't use my TuffyBox as much as I thought I woukd. But it's still pretty cool to have when I want to use it.
