Holy shit!!! I have tundra brakes on my taco, but I wouldn't pay over a grand for them haha. I believe it was about $500 for them with ebc pads and rotors.. Couldn't be happier with them

I put 2001 tundra calipers (199mm) rotors and pads on my 97 reg cab and its kick ass! Total cost was @ $210. I wouldn't do anything else except maybe the 231mm tundra calipers. I am running 33's and the stopping power is 200% of what it was stock.

Do you suggest OEM Tundra calipers? What aftermarket brands would you go with?

Look on eBay for calipers. 199mm are p/n S13WE. 231mm are p/n 13WL. The 199mm calipers can be found as low as $40 each shipped. Then get some powerstop rotors and ceramic pads from rockauto.com for $97. You have to modify the banjo bolt for the brake line and bend the dust shields back a bit. Then you have kick ass stopping power.

There are some detailed write ups on yotatech forums. Google is your friend on this one. :D

I got a used set of 13WLs on here, bought a rebuild kit from Camelback Toyota for maybe $20. Rebuilt and painted the calipers and then went with OEM rotors and pads from the dealership. I also decided to use this time to upgrade my brake lines (you can loose a lot of stopping power when those rubber hoses wear and expand), and I didn't have to drill out the current hose. I think I spent about $400.

The stopping power is amazing. I think the TRD brake kit is way overkill, and although overkill is good, the price to overkill ratio is not appropriate.

I got the calipers used for $80 for both and I think new/rebuild calipers are $200+ each.

Im familiar with the writeups, was just wondering if most people were going oem or not.

Chipskip...did you have any clearance issues with your wheels? Im running some 16" TRD rims of some vintage...I believe I may have the 199mm's right now..(bought the truck from a buddy of mine)...I may look to do the update to the 13WL's...the upgrade to 233 mm's may be worth the jump...with that being said..im going to stop by the dealer to see the deal with the TRD Kit...:)..I will post back their response.

Icon/TC Mid travel, TRD S/C, PNP Greddy EMU, 625cc injectors, 2.2 pulley, Hayden tranny cooler, AEM wideband, TRD boost gauge.
Those TRDs are stoptechs. Nice but too pricey given the alternatives such as Speed Freaks Willwood kit.

I was alwasy under the impression the Tundra upgrade was less bolt on. Sounds so easy and cheap I can't imagine going any other route.
