Hey guys so I have decided to do the tundra brake upgrade but im stuck on which size I can do. There is the 199 or the 231 mm. I have 17*9 18mm offset wheels. My question is can the 231's fit? I want to make sure that they will not touch the wheels. I have a 2001 prerunner v6 crew cab 6 lug.

@mechanicjon has a template you can print out and test it. I’m going to say yes it’ll fit based on the 17” size. You need 16” minimum.

Don't even bother with the 199. You'd be better off just getting better brake pads for the stock calipers and save a bunch of money.

So yes, get the 231. They will work with your 17s.

Do you have the template handy that you could attach? I'm curious to know if my 16" wheels will clear the 231 calipers. I remember reading some will and some won't

You'll fit the 13WL's no problem under 17" rims, so go that route, and here's a good explanation of why you wan the larger 13WL vs 13WE calipers.

Then, here's a full list of parts, tools, and steps you can follow for the install.

Like everyone else is saying- get the 231. I've also gave 17x9 and did the 231 swap a few months ago. The best upgrade I've done this far as far as daily driving.

I have had the 199s since 2007 and even with my 37s they work fine. No fitment issues with 17s.

You can use DOT 4, dot 4 is just an 'upgraded' version of dot 3. Higher boiling point I think

In fact I think most DOT 3 bottles say they're compatible with DOT 4 and vice versa
