Thinking about Tundra brake upgrade for my 2002. Rotors are the same diameter, but with the larger caliber, will 15” rims still fit?

    From what I’ve read NO,
Rotors are a lot larger and calipers too I’m pretty sure.

Even some 16's won't fit, so definitely do some research

I read around a lot trying to do this and stick with 15's. Can't do it.

They're tight with my stock 16" wheels. I have a tiny bit more room between the rotor and the wheel on my generic steel wheels. But I had to grind down a corner on the caliper to make it fit with my generic steelies.

15" rims definitely won't fit. Here's a good write-up of the process, and also an analysis of parts, for when you tackle this.

New-to-me Tires and a Tundra Brake Upgrade
This is when I went to larger calipers - list of parts, tools, etc.

Great comparison of OEM vs. non-OEM here
You have several choices as far as parts go. I recommend OEM for everything except the calipers.

Tundra Brake Break-in and First Impressions
It's important to bed your pads and rotors after you do this job. And it's not hard, it's fun!

Making It Right: Tacoma-to-Tundra Brake Upgrade
After running my Tundra brakes for 2 years, one failed (seized up). In replacing it, I realized that I should have spent a bit more up front and done a complete conversion, rather than skipping the hard line install to save a few bucks.

Ive tried two different steel 15in wheels with my tundra brakes and they wouldn't fit.

If you want to improve your brakes and keep your 15" wheels, I found a combination of parts that made a nice improvement over stock.

Since I don't have ABS, the brakes will easily lock up at high speed without effort. After the upgrade, I now have more brakes than I need. Note that I am running new Michelin Defenders tires on 16" rims. So I'm not running some old worn out tires.

Because I may decide to sell the truck at some point in the future, I wanted to stay with stock calipers for reverting back to the original 15" wheels.

Here's some pictures of some ordinary parts from O'Reilly Auto with a rear stainless line from Wheelers. I suspect the most improvement came from O'Reilly Auto Supply's rebuilt calipers using a larger size banjo bolt.

Wheeler's extended line for the rear.

O"Reilly rebuilt calipers with Wagner Thermo Quiet Pads. Right now I have six cars, I'm running Wagners on five out of six. If I cannot get Wagners for a given car, then I run Akebono Pro Act.

Bosch Quiet Cast rotors have a special coating to prevent rust.

It just doesn't work. I didn't believe it so I tried 4different caliper brands, all very close but they just don't clear.
