Just reach out to Camburg and ask what the dimensions are.

A bit frustrating, but camburg has been a hassle to work with. Haven't been able to get any valuable response out of them. I ended up buying an oem tundra lower to do some test fitting myself. Should be able to deduce some rough dimensions of their kit based on the site.

More part comparison... the tundra knuckle vs tacoma.

Okay, Ill cross that idea off the list. The length is about an inch shorter than my tacoma camburg arms which at 2.5" longer and an inch forward, the tundra arms would be great but the mounting width is going to be too wide. About an inch wider. Without getting more detailed measurements, it's going to be difficult to say if adjustment of the misalignment spacers would be enough

Rev A is tacked up. Few small changes need made but overall it looks good. I'm happy with the alignment numbers throughout the travel. I've been playing with the idea of running a 3.0 IBP. Just by eye it looks like clearance is going to be tight though.

Other that the uniball swap to vertical, any significant geometry changes with that UCA? Are you also going to do custom LCAs?

As of now, no significant changes besides making sure I had enough caster built in throughout the travel. The LCA is going to stay camburg which will remain as is besides pushing it all the way forward and repositioning the shock mount. I still might go back to my original plan with all custom components but I want to try this first.

*note with the swap to the horizontal uniball, the LCA mount is about an 1.5" lower than tundra OEM to create the camber curve I wanted. KPI minimally affected based on my model.

Keep in mind, he's also on JD Fab pivots which move the LCA forward up to 1".

The uniball cup was purposely tilted back to match the profile of the UCA mount. All cycles cleanly even though it will not match at jounce and extension.

Cool, was just wondering since it looked like it might bind the uniball at full droop. But I'm probably just underestimating the range of the uniball.

Steering might be limited in certain jouce and rebound conditions which i haven't fully checked yet. So there could be "binding" in the sense of limiting range of motion but nothing that would prohibit the suspension from cycling.

Yeah, I was just thinking about this yesterday on my drive while my own upper ball joint is going out. Does the uniball have enough travel to give you full lock to lock steering as factory? I know other companies have a uniball setup, I think RCLT also has a horizontal uniball, but I'm not really familiar with uniballs in general or their limitations. I know SPC claims they have less articulation than their ball joints, but that's probably marketing bs.

Most race kits have a vertical uniball upper - Solo XLT, LSK, even Dirt Design’s 3.5 kit has one.

I’m curious why you don’t make a custom spindle and possibly even lower. You could use any hub / lug pattern you want and put the steering wherever you need it and run whatever brakes you want too.

It has really come down to 3 different factors for me: time, money, and working with what I have. I was originally going the route of custom upper, lower, and knuckle. I may eventually go back that route but development takes time and with being back in school as well as having a family, I need to do what's best for me. Most of the enjoyment comes from doing it myself and doing things a little different than expected. It may not end up working out how I expected, but I'm okay with that.

Also, I have a tundra rear axle so may as well use all tundra components. At least as much as I can.

Starting to look more like an upper. Hopefully I can get the steering dialed in this week. Still waiting on parts.

I see - having the rear axle makes a better argument for staying tundra bolt pattern all around. Totally get using what you have and working with it. Are you going to box in the bolt tabs for the upper - I didn’t read enough to know if this is for mock up or final revision.

    0D0501EC-782E-4D71-9118-B6B651ABCEF1.jpg

[Unsolicited] welding pointer, throw a little more wire into your welds - consistency is good but it looks like you’re going too fast and / or not enough wire feed with the undercut alternating with the weld not making it to the upper edge of the parent material. That said, it could be that like me, you get your best welds on the parts no one sees.
