Swapped over to 500lb springs. Ride height and cv angles are so much better now

Im pretty sure I'm like the only one that runs them. Everyone runs like 600-700lbs but with 16" springs. The issue with 16s is that there isn't much travel so you have limited room for adjustability. The 18" has a little over 9" so plenty of room for preload adjustment if need be and it rides nice. I let the dampening do most of the work and the spring just basically supports the weight of my truck and sets ride height.

What a mess but it's getting there. All the mounts have been cut off and still working on cleaning it up for paint. Just got the shafts torn apart to be reworked for the 6x5.5 bolt pattern and 106 center bore.

Finished up treating all the rust and gave it a coat of gray steel-it. Not sure if I'll keep it or just go black instead

Yes and it was absolutley terrible :rofl:Bearings were pretty seized. Ended up having to use heat to break them loose. I bent the studs on the bearing housing and the 1/4" plate on the bearing puller.

Weight difference between 4 and 6 cyl models is pretty significant. LT changes the shock angle and gives mechanical advantage to the springs also. I had 600lb springs on a +2 kit on my regular cab with 0 preload and got about 2-3” of lift before I built my other truck.

Also, talked to Tom Woods Drivehafts yesterday and the plan is going to be to upgrade to 1350 joints. Now the truck is going to need more power haha
We are both 6 cyl but I agree there is a difference in mechanical advantage based on suspension geometry as well as applied moment at wheels during cycling.
