It's a blast. Still need a truck, for home depot runs, doggo, and sons baseball tourneys.

Ha . Just realized you're talking about the red truck haha yea the red truck was/is my dad's. Ls swap 6.0 cammed. 420hp and gets better mpg than my tundra haha

I haven't made that change, but one thing you have to remember is a Tundra/fullsize is not a midsize truck. The Taco doesn't have a V8. It also isn't going to have the same interior space, etc. If you're aware of that, the Taco is an amazing truck. There's a reason why they sell like crazy.

Had a 2003 Tundra SR5, access cab, flair sided, short bed, which I absolutely loved, for 16 years. Then Toyota told me they would buy it back from me, due to frame rust issues. Couldn't pass up the offer, bought a 2018 Taco, then a year later traded for a 2020 Taco.

The 2020 has no issues, smaller back seats, easier parking, less time cleaning and waxing. Two days ago, for the first time, I finally shoved the pedal to the floor to see what it could do and the sucker took off like a rocket. So its got plenty of juice, just gotta use it I guess. I'm retired and use it as a daily driver and must say, it's a blast to drive IMHO...!

Tbh I drive kind of like an old man anyway. Compared to the red truck , the tundra Is slow. Also since it's a 2017, it does not have the hot rod throttle pedal like the 2007-2013 do. Different throttle mapping in the 2014+.

Also if you do decide to make the switch, be prepared to do some searching. Tacomas are hard to find on lots right now. At least here.

I went from a Silverado 1500 to an '18 tacoma off road model. Fullsize was too big since I sold the travel trailer. Tacoma is just right for everyday things. Now with a rear facing carseat it can be challenging. Luckily the wife is short.
I feel the tacoma is very capable in offroading and I'm running a next size up from stock bfg and never any issues when offroading.

I think the hardest thing to give up about my tundra would be the interior, not the v8. The 5.7 is an awesome motor but I really don't "get on it" much

I don't have kids, only dogs. I bought an access cab TRD off road and the 6ft bed is a dream for camping with the canopy on it, save for needing some waterproofing after our now very apparent winter passes. The access cab is a bit small but really you're only gaining what, 6 inches in a double cab? However between the small cab and a canopy I can fit enough to live for months in it if I'm going somewhere myself/with the dogs. Dogs in the cab, 2 rubbermaids and the cooler in the bed - reverse when sleeping. If I go with someone else it's a tighter fit with the dogs, so they're usually left at home and baby-sat by friends or family.

Why can’t an SUV make Home Depot runs? What about a Sequoia they fit nice big tires… first generation Sequoia is a little bit narrower than the current.

Couple questions, so how does the crew cab taco back seat compare to the tundra double cab back seat. Also access cab and double cab? Are the tacos not the same crew and double cab designations as tundra?

I don't think I'd want to drive a Tacoma after driving a Tundra, and a Wrangler is more capable offroad.

I guess a Gladiator would do, but again after driving a Tundra, the Gladiator might not on road as well. In that case I'd compromise and get a 2500 Power Wagon.

I think tundra was double cab (you have) and crewmax

Tacoma has access cab = suicide doors and jump seats
Double cab = 4 regular doors

We just call 'em access cab (double cab) - suicide doors in the rear, and double cab (crewmax cab) - four regular doors. Space in the back seat of a double cab Tacoma is that of the space in a double cab Tundra. Limited but liveable.
