I'll be clear up front - my wife and I like it rough. There will be scratching and possibly a little bruising. Nothing too serious, just some minor body damage, it will most likely be cosmetic. It's the memory of how we get these scars that drives us. If you have protection, it'll probably save you from tears later - I suggest you use it.

We've experimented with all kinds of relationships, and find that the most adventurous are typically the least committed to trying to keep in perfect shape. The really fun ones have been around the block a time or two and have the body to show it. They know their way around and its clear by the way they move. Sometimes they point the way for us, sometimes we point the way for them - sometimes we take turns telling each other what to do.

We've tried doing it with just the two of us, but have found we've reached the limit of what two people can do alone. We've simply done everything there is to do with only two people. We've reached out to similar owners and while there are a few adventurous souls in the Tundra world, it seems like Taco owners are just dirtier. And that suits us perfectly! The dirtier and harder, the better!

    To sum it up:
Most Tundra owners are afraid to scratch their pretty trucks and don't want to take the hard trails - especially those that are considered 'Jeep only' here in Arizona.
We're joining this forum in hopes of finding some serious wheelers who don't mind scratching their paint, bumping into a rock or getting lost on a trail in the name of fun.

Hes already known by a few of us AZ crew. Well his truck at least.

Yes, he will fit in just fine.

Weve got an east side mod day happening Sat as well as @JeepAndrew Rug Road trip coming up.

The 4x4 route may be full, plus im not sure you want to take a full size down it. I suppose the right driver and patience can do it, but driver beware.
There is always the backdoor penetration route with the other full sized and 2wd folks.

These are exactly the trails we want to hit with the Tacos. Most of the Tundra owners that we know of in AZ aren't really down for scratches and spotter-required trails. They may take a tiny bit of AZ pinstriping, but we're down to the metal in a few spots - that's why we bought the truck - to go places. :)

Our last trip was Sycamore Creek, the back way to Crown King (all obstacles), Prescott, Smiley Rock trail, Mingus Mountain to Cherry. There were parts of Smiley Rock where the left, right, top and bottom were all scraping at once. We had two Tundras and a 4Runner.

Most of the Tundra guys we wheel with on a regular basis are from Cali and Vegas though, so we're looking for locals to get into trouble with. :D

I didnt think stripes would be an issue but at the end of Rug Road as you drop elevation into the canyon it turns to a rock section with shelves and tight turns to get the right angles into obstacles. If you can get in on the 4x4 route just be pepared for some possible hangups.

    Brandon build you sliders?

He didn't build us sliders - yet. ;)

It's on the list of possibilities though. I'm actually sort of torn on them. They're like a self fulfilling prophecy. As soon as you install them, you lose a few inches of side clearance and immediately start hitting things you used to clear. It makes you think 'wow! Glad I got the sliders!' But you might have cleared the obstacle without them.

I dunno. I keep arguing with myself... And then we go to the Gate Keeper at John Bull and I know for a fact I could not get through it without sliders... I mean maybe. It's possible. Gah! I'm arguing with myself again.

If we do them, I want weld on and I want them high and tight to the rocker. Not like steps. Not even sticking out like white knuckles.

I'm a bitch, and I'm ok with that.

    Lol. Another Tundra owner here.

I absolutely hate my Tundra for off road.

My Tacoma loves the trails. IMG_20160409_101604.jpg

Oh man, you have the best of both worlds! we love the Tundra for off road out here. Probably because we're always carrying a ton of camping gear and fuel and water. It also fits the RTT over the bed, and I don't think this style tent would fit on the bed of a Taco.

This isn't really a build thread, but I'm building, so fuck it.

You know shit's gettin real when you have to break out the grinder and you're working on the INTERIOR. :sawzall:

Working on fridge and onboard water locations.

    IMG_9256.jpg IMG_9262.jpg IMG_9266.jpg IMG_9269.jpg IMG_9281.jpg

Puppy Approved. Which is good, because they're the ones that have to live with it back there.

After everything gets bolted, wired and plumbed in, we'll build a cushioned platform to match the height of the fridge. It will have storage underneath and be comfy on top for the Doges.

It may be time to make a proper build thread here.
