Anyone else try using tundra rear shocks? Like the bilstein 5100 for tundra?

I've ordered the tundra King rear shocks from Accutune back in October. I've been patiently waiting...

Im trying to do the same setup as the accutune. Got the Fox 2.5 w/ resi not knowing that it needs to be modified. Resi fitting needs to be reoriented to go towards the front and the bushing to mount. Going to this shock service center to see if they can do the mod.

I'd just reef on the fitting and tighten it clockwise 180° from where its at. It won't lose pressure as you are tightening it and not loosening it.

So for the bushing. The sleeve will be cut/grind to fit.

Wondering why someone would do this instead of just buying longer longer shocks that are correctly valved for the Tacoma?

If you get this setup from Acutune, it is re-valved specifically for the Tacoma. They will want to know everything about your loading / configuration with your order. If you put an off the shelf Tundra shock on, then you might have issues.

How are the shocks holding up? Looking for some more info on these shocks. I bought these from a vendor other than AccuTune, not knowing they needed modifications to fit the truck. Grinding down the collar and rotating the valve stems sounds easy enough.. looking to hear about how they ride? And do your shocks have the DSC?

The grinding and reorientation was easy. Yes, I did get DSC on my shocks. There was a comment that the valving might be different since its for a Tundra but it didnt worry about it since the shocks are adjustable. I am running this setup with Deaver stage 1. At softer setting, its bouncy. I have no way to compare it with the Fox shocks for Tacoma. Rides well both on and off road. I guess as long as it is adjustable it will be fine since you will be able to dial in your shocks to your liking. I have full skid, sliders and steel rear bumper. Also, I have an off road trailer too.

I believe he was talking about gaining an inch of travel not lift with the shocks

That is why I went with the Tundra shocks. The Deaver leaf pack give 2 inch more and the inch of travel gained from the shock to compensate.

Great, glad to hear they're holding up and working well. Comforting to know I don't need to return these shocks and go another route. Very nice looking truck and trailer dude.

I am very very happy with this set up. I think you will be too. I felt the same way when I ran into the same problem, took the risk and the rewards was great. Ig: @cornerstoneoverland

Have an option on a removed set of 2024 Tundra shocks- front coilovers and rear shocks.
Reading this thread, seems like upgrading my 2023 Tacoma with these would not be straightforward. Is that the case?
