Tundra recall due to excessive frame rust...hmmmm

    They're repairing them - which is good - since it is a recall.

    I thought they'd have another cash offer similar to the tacomas rust warrantee. But then again - if you were interested in buying a new truck, I wonder how much $$ they'd give you for it? Would it be similar to the tacomas offer (150%) or would they gyp you and only give you trade-in value.

    I've got a first gen and already had it inspected once. they said again it was only surface rust but it looks pretty damn nasty. Supposedly, the whole frame and suspension are to be replaced by the end of 2010 but im not supposed to call (i called like 3 times in a month and they told me to stop calling)

    I live in the north east and 5 years of salt has not been kind to it. i just wish they covered the exhaust because the only place that really has structural problems. every connection is rusted so much im afraid to touch the screws for fear theyll melt into dust. and a new exhaust is still a good ways away
