Perhaps you may be missing adequately funding your retirement, children's college fund, a worthwhile charity, etc. Or perhaps not and an unecessary $250 here and there is just chump change. We dunno. <shrug> Why do you ask?

Kyle, your issues are jumping in on a thread with nothing useful to add but condescending financial judgement of somebody else's post. GFY, and your financial consulting license. It doesnt matter what your opinion is, provide knowledge or information to answer the question or troll elsewhere.

Thanks, DJB1, i will dig a little more on the tundra spring rates, but may not come up with much. Swapping coils would be easy and given the progressive springs, would provide a more plush ride than the linear springs of ome or eibach. I will let you know what i find out. I will shoot for a v6 tundra coil setup first.

Baja TX & TRD Pro Tacoma use TRD Spec Bilstein 6112 in front & 5160 out back.

I'm very interested in the results. If it's economical, gives you a few inches of lift and rides good, you will be a hero of low-buck modifications.

Just go to the junk yard and buy tundra struts. Then bring it home and try to fit it in. Simple

LOL, you sound like my wife, the queen of generalization. I gotcha and if my job and family would accomodate that then i wouldnt have any problem with that. I wish the junkyards were full of them. All the local yards get stripped of yotas quickly where they are shipped to S America for rebuild and resale at a fraction of the US costs. I already got the answer on the struts and i am not going the big hammer, torch route. I will just interchange some progressive coils and see what works.

Chas not trying to be a smart ass but I am confused. I thought your other post and thread lists the 6112's new and under development. If that is the case how can current model of the Tacoma be in production with them? Thanks for clarifying.

I dunno if it's already been stated, but with a Winch and bumper, save your sheckles and do it right with OME or something else dedicated to take the weight. Otherwise this might cost you more in the long run when something breaks.

I would not risk tundra parts, even so I don't think those oem were designed to handle an additional 300 lbs in front. Buying and guessing fitment might cost you more if they dont fit or end up damaging your car down the road. Just do it right the first time or save up.

If you can afford the bumper and winch, why cheap on the suspension that supports the car safely. If 250 is too much, i would wait and save. The alignment itself will run a third of that cost so your not just spending for parts.

You'll lose stock geometry if you lift with coils only (ignoring the spacer option).
You can safely lift 2.5 inches without buying the extras. Go higher and you'll want LCAs, and maybe extended brake lines. Expect a little bump steer when you lift. Also, when you get an alignment, consider asking to have your caster bumped up to 2.4 to allow for larger tires without trimming - if you think you might want 33s

Kyle, you said you think they 9100's and Chas said they are 6112's. So I asked the person that said definitively that they were 6112's to explain as he also said those were under development. I will wait for his response as he may very well have just made a mistake or there may be more info I am missing. Thanks.

I agree, this is why I asked Chas of MRT who started that thread and also said that 6112's are on the Baja, TX, and PRO to explain. Maybe he he mistyped or maybe I am missing something...

I thought about doing this a few weeks after buying my truck. The nissan frontier guys use titan suspension for a 3 inch lift and long travel.

I appreciate the discussion, but things appeared to have strayed a bit. I have no clue about the trd pro or future bilstein models. Just some clarification on some previous suggestions.

My intent is to properly support additional front weight, specifically 135lbs, not 300 as some mentioned. I dont care about lifting the truck, spacers are not an option as this improperly loads a progressive spring beyond the designed sag height. I am experimenting in tundra progressive coil route because it will keep the plush convenience of a progressive setup up front and with heavier frames and bigger engines have naturally larger coils. So given the tacoma dclb v6 plus 135 on the nose should somewhere in the ballpark of a tundra v8. I am not interested in changes to damping. I also understand for stock geometry to keep the rear in balance. I was mainly referring to not going down the road of changing control arms.

The ome 887 springs seem too heavy for what i want they only recommend them for over 200+ additional pounds. The 886 seem to be set for the weight i need. Does it really matter utilizing bilsteins with ome vs eibach springs? It appears some think it is blashpemy to interchange while others recommend mixed combos.
For the rear, i am looking at a progressive aal.

Got it, and for what its worth, i enjoy fab and retrofit. Money isnt in endless supply, but i find more satisfaction in "creating" something instead of just buying the same prebuilt formula. In this case, it doesnt appear to be worth the squeeze, so billies or ome it is. Thanks again.
