You're cutting holes in the mesh for the lights? Why? Will they not fit behind the mesh?

They will fit behind, but that'd block a ton of light. They'll still be behind it, just with a great line of sight out the front. I'm planning on trying to some sort of a dimple die treatment for the area that I cut out so it'll curve in towards the light.

A little work on the panel since the water filler arrived!

And a quick halogen vs hid test.

Lights weren't mounted to anything and just cell phone pictures so i think it over exposed the hid one.

But the hid definitely has more distance!

    Trees are at about 150ft.

    Some better light comparison pictures.

Stock low/high beams (just realized the fogs are probably on since they always are)
Light bar - Cheap Amazon 42" spot/flood combo LED light bar
Halogen Driving - Hella 500ff light with the bulb it comes with
HID driving - Hella 500ff light with a 55w 5000k HID bulb in it

    Driving lights: http://amzn.to/2muvpvl
    Light bar: http://amzn.to/2mSryLa
    HID kit: http://amzn.to/2np1MLk

The driving lights are a single 5" light each...wanted to get the pictures done so I could modify the second light for the HID.

The road is straight for about 500ft then turns to the right slightly. The signs near the middle of the picture are near 1,000ft away which is where the road turns.

    Low Beams:
    01 low.jpg

    High Beams:
    02 high.jpg

    Light bar and lows:
    04 bar high.jpg

    Light bar + high:
    03 bar.jpg

    Halogen Driving lights only:
    05 halogen.jpg

    Low beams plus halogen:
    06 low halogen.jpg

    HID driving light only:
    07 hid.jpg

Low beam + HID driving light:
    08 hid low.jpg

So, the HID definitely adds some distance. I wish it had a little more spread out at the distance, but then again, its only one light so if you double the coverage, it'd be pretty good for a 5" light.

I was going to do a HID + high + light bar, but the hood was up for a place to set the HID so maybe next time.

Why is it so hard to find black machine screws!

Guess the window panel will be waiting a little longer since I'll have to find them online.

    Painted... :p

Would have the gloss black wrap.. But wait, usps decided not to deliver it, and i didn't think they'd close so early on Saturday. So, i wait.

The screws will be all exposed, and i want it to look like a window, not obvious screws all around it.

Nicely laid out site, very easy to find what you need.

Ordered plenty of screws along with two taps for the aluminum pieces lying on top of the panel in the picture. The aluminum strips will be on the inside of the topper, and threaded to allow the removal of the panel if needed for future changes/mods to it. I drilled a ton of mounting holes, but will be skipping every other one on the top and bottom (there will still be just under 30 that will hold the panel on).

Two different cameras ordered as well to see what works well with the camera adapter.

Wrapped it.... Put spray contact cement down to make sure it stayed on there. But, so much for a smooth finish!

So I'll probably just paint it at some point, but it'll work for now.

Also didn't buy the longer screws that i meant to and I'm thinking I'll need them. Not sure if i can get them locally so i might be waiting again. Shipping costs more than the screws of course.

Yeah... i should've just put it directly on the panel instead of trying to glue it. Figured i could smooth it out but nopers.

How hard would it be to remove it and clean it all off?

Doubt it'd be hard... But the wrap is trash.

Since I'm waiting on more screws, i may do that before it gets mounted.

I got all the holes drilled and the aluminum support for inside tapped, so it's getting closer to a finished product.

    They are already ordered..

But they are 8-32 pan head stainless steel machine screws in black. I meant to order a longer size as well, but didn't.

I thought fastenal might have some but if they didn't, then I'd be set back another day (last night, couldn't call them). Grainger showed some on the website but there have to order them, not in stock.
