So I'm thinking cement grey for main color...on the lighter side.

Depending on how ambitious i am, i may do a topo map layout on it with a slightly darker color. But that means painting it twice and the body work will need to be pretty smooth, so that might not happen. It'd look neat though.

Edit: just realized i can paint it, then lie down pin stripe tape instead of trying to paint that ish on...so it'll likely happen. :bananadance:

Grey will hide the dust better but I've always been a fan of dark blue.

Yeah, I'll save the dark blue.. Maybe for interior stuff if i get around to it. I'm not one for washing the exterior of vehicles often so grey will be great

Pulled lights, rear fenders, front bumper. Front fenders will go shortly. I'd like to get the paint done before the weather changes and i have to heat the garage for painting needs.

So I might be able to make it happen by this weekend! At least the main paint and color.

Picked up the paint supplies today.. Under $100 including primer, black paint for inside the wheel wells, some Bondo and such. They only had the paint in certain colors, so i got a gallon of mid grey and a pint of white and we'll see how that looks when i lighten it up a little.

Ordered a floor jack since i don't feel like driving down to the city for one...So much easier to have it land at the doorstep for the same price.

Removed front fenders, pressure washed the car and the fenders and probably try to prime and maybe start painting the inner fenders tomorrow if it's not raining like it is now.

Speaking of them, i wrote into a podcast called "Reply All" about a topic idea about OnTrac, Amazon and the pay for good ratings system of the BBB since they look into stuff like that.

They replied and said that was interesting, and not the first time they've heard of the pay for an "accredited" or "A" rating on the BBB website. So I'm sure many other companies pay for their good rating.

So today I rallied out a coat of paint early...which was clearly too cold for the paint. With the rustoleum type stuff when you roll it on, there are little bubbles that go away, but they don't do it in the cold. So the passenger side has a little extra texture.

Not a car show paint job hence the drips on the windows that I'll scrape off. But i used a hair dryer as i painted the last coat and it was much better.

    0922181705-1.jpg

But you can surely get a nice paint job with the roll on if you take your time, wet sand it at the end and polish it.

This was the Ace brand of rustoleum since that's what they had... Thinned it down with mineral spirits, I'd say 6:1 or so.

    Foam roller and brush.

Ordered 300ft of 1/8" grey pin stripe and 150ft of 1/4" grey

Nope, was hoping to find the ratchet bike tire tie down thing but wasn't ever able to find something that would work and then forgot about it.

Haven't updated on this thread in a minute..

Pulled the bug engine, leak was coming from a jb welded spot that was done by the engine builder 45k or so ago.

Options were to get a new case (expensive since this one is bored out and such) or re jb weld It. I opted for the latter. Hopefully it works for a while, if not I'll have to swap the stock one in.

So it's almost reassembled, waiting on a 12pt torx to pull the cv's to pull the trans that is covered in oil as well.

Got it painted, reassembled and the pin stripes arrived today.

I was shooting for them to be darker than the paint but oh well, i think it works!

Thanks. Have to give him a shout when we get something that needs designed.

House permit is ready for me to pick it up. Foundation guy is a month out, so i doubt the weather will cooperate. I haven't received a quote on the price yet, but I won't be interested in spending the extra for heat blankets and such. So...just wait and see.

I put the engine and trans back in the bug buy haven't had time to connect it back up. Have the new oil, but going into the freezing garage after work just doesn't sound thrilling.

I want to get it running soon... Would do it now but dinner sounds more rewarding.
