For those following the shitty county permit process..i keep hearing from people about others building houses without permits since they won't deal with the county. And just heard about a freaking factory that someone built.., not a single permit. Funny... Until they just get crazy stupid or get worse.

Glad to do dumb things on occasion.

The coil to distributor wire wasn't connected. I connected it and had spark! It's running, exhaust showed up but i need to sand it and paint it before installing. Hoping it'll be nice and quiet!

Old exhaust was a fun process of taking it off. the tube was bent over the mounting nut. I ended up cutting it off with a hacksaw, doubling up two more nuts and trying to back the stud out which broke off at the first nut. Drilled it, and finally was able to hammer on a socket. It unthreaded. Got the new exhaust on and realized I forgot the gaskets. Its back on but I need new nuts since the old ones are toast.

Ordering new door handles since I dont have the keys to the one I have.

Tires showed up and look pretty good. They are pretty soft (high rated snow tires) so we'll see how they handle all the gravel driving. Hope to get those mounted this week and figure out the wiring issues so it can be driven.

Of course, before any lengthy trips, I'll be replacing both rear wheel bearings as they sound nasty. I'll keep them as spares at best. Need to do a good once over of the steering components as well before I get it aligned.

Yeah, all parts (other than tires) have come from jbugs. Good prices, easy checkout and it usually arrives in 2days.

Ya I have to agree with you there. All the orders I have done have come pretty fast, even one that had a gas tank. I still have trans axle seal kit that I need to install. Hopefully I will be able to do it this winter.

And because of your mentioning of that... Now more presents on the way for the shit bug. Wheel bearings for both sides, door handles and yakima roof rack towers. Rtt should look good on her.

Only bad part is I'll actually need to find and use the ladder since it'll be too high to jump into.

Nice thing is the kit was like $10. I did my front bearings but have not looked at the rears. That would be fairly large jump. Are you sure the top of the bug can handle that weight?

Rears have an inner and outer bearing, so like $90 for both sides.

Not sure but we'll see. Tent is 100 pounds, and I'm only 160 or so.

Ya that is a nice thing, most parts are pretty cheap. You will have to let us know how the roof holds up.

I might find a way to make the rear portion and hood come off easily, but still don't like the look of a caged thing. Surely much easier to build. But i like some form with my function.

Unfortunately looks to be leaking from the same spot. Hoping it's the plug tube seals but...expecting my usual luck to come through. I can see the top of the repair which looks ok but the tin blocks the lower part.

Quite the view! Sounds like snows headed our way in MO. Does the ol' girl get around pretty well in the snow?

Not sure yet, that spot is just down the road, and the roads didn't have much snow on them. Was going to go further towards the background where there would be snow but turned back when i saw the oil leaking.

It's taken apart now, hopefully get the oil leak fixed this time.

Put a coat of jb weld on. I'll give it another check tomorrow. Still waiting on gaskets. Hope to give that another test by this weekend.

27ft 2 gauge jumper cable setup made for winch arrived (so I can connect it to whatever tow vehicle I'm using, and so I'm not wiring into the tundra). I need to buy a cargo box for that, winch should be on the way.
