I was searching when I couldn't believe that Toyota would not have one yet, and saw that most that had the "factory" locking tailgates were actually pop n locks that are installed by the dealer.

Yeah, its a ton of room, but somewhat useless as is. It'd just turn into a huge junk bin of lost items.

No way I'd spend that on it when I only spent $1k on full locking drawers, but it looks like you can cut out that carpet and recess stuff since those are deep. I'll probably just go with canvas duffle bags for $10 if I need that storage space.

Here is my tailgate lock. My ignition key locks it.

So what models in 2005 had entune? I thought that didn't come out until about 2012? Also not that you want to spend the money, but have you seen those ginormous touch screen radios they have for your truck? Looks like a 12" or 15" screen with all the bells and whistles?

Not sure on the year, but the technology clearly is prior to 2012... It's like DOS quality.

I have not... It'll stay museum quality like it came from the factory, it is what it is... Just hoped for a glimmer of technological advancement.

Back in my day we were happy to get the FM radio with the 8-track option.

You should have just gotten the optional seat heaters. :D

Our new runner has Entune with GPS and real time traffic. Its actually pretty damn nice. On par with todays technology. So not sure what you got.
Yeah and typically the 8 track was a dealer add on and got bolted to the bottom of the dash. :D

It's identical to what the taco had.

Reading the build sheet was what got me expecting something better. Whoever writes the descriptions sure better get paid well.

By what standards? The 3rd gen has the same and it's garbage. It "looks" good but in real world use its trash. Pretty sure they stole it from a 15 year old german car and renamed it entune.

The entune's map might be from 2005. For me this is simply the poorest piece of my truck, outside of the piss poor MPG's.

Honestly unless you have apple carplay or android auto all OE infotainment systems are miles behind the technological curve.

    And the modding begins!

Gateway mods for sure. Vent visors and pop n lock arrived and installed today.

Got the Decked system ordered from Northern Tool online. Ordered on Thursday or Friday. But they cant figure out how to charge my card and are very disorganized. Would like to find somewhere to match the price (they offered a $200 gift card back with purchase).
