Hello All, From reading through the forum re tuning, it reminded me of my software development days.

You can't please everyone, this person wants this, that person wants that, this group wants that. I did exactly what OVTune did, (created an open file), I released the working file and said go at it. I have to give Matt at OVTune credit for starting this whole thing and I relate to the reason it ended at 2.0.

What did that do, just what it did here. There are multiple tunes out there now; OVTune 2.0, Coyoza, DTMax, etc.... I've read Coyoza seems to be a go to tune if you own a manual truck. I have read many other enthusiasts have built great products from Matt's final 2.0 Version. Further to say many feel theirs is an improvement, rightfully so. Unfortunately NO Dyno tests to substantiate the improvements or exactly what the improvements were (that would help).

As I noted above you can't satisfy everyone, look at the 4 scores for the throttle tip in settings. Not a huge spread between the top three. That feedback makes for a great source to help one decide which to choose. The piece of the puzzle missing there is a detailed description of each, not to mention what is Throttle tip in exactly.

Until someone does a dyno shoot out here of all the reputable tunes and explains the differences and where the differences exist from engine startup to redline, there will never be a this ones best. VFTuner will be a product that gives a tool for enthusiasts to play. Each new product created, its not much different than any car product in the real world (Cams, Turbos, Intakes/Manifolds, Headers etc....), its the creater's take on how it should be.

I guess if you don't want to play this cat and mouse game, you choose one and go with it and hope it served it's purpose in what you were looking for in results. Many say DTMax is an improvement over OVTune, unfortunately those saying so don't tell you which version of OVTune they came from. Some don't even say what version of DTMax they upgraded to. The other missing detail is what is different that made them make the statement the change is better. Did the product change, effect the powerband, did it effect shift points, did it effect fuel economy. From this one can determine if the new results from the change is something they are looking for themselves.

Koodos to all that have played, posted comments here and developed videos, the more information that gets out there; helps one make a better informed choice.

Maybe one day, some of these will be patented and available at your nearest auto parts store. Thanks for allowing me to post how I see it from the outside.
