My '95 Tacoma 2.4L Auto started running rough 2 wks ago and two days later the Check Engine light came on. OBD II code read 0301 which I was told meant that the #1 cylinder was firing erratically. As I hadn't done a tune-up in quite a while, I changed plug wires, plugs, dist. cap and rotor. The Check Engine light went off immediately but the truck still ran tough and within 2 days the light came on again with ODB II = 0301 again. Note: I gapped the plugs, as the manual said to, at 0.031". The old plugs looked good but were obviously old and opened to greater than 0.040". Also, the #1 plug wire had erratic impedance of 20kOhm to over 100kOhm as I moved it and the cylinder 2 wire was open (possibly broken during removal although I was careful). Do you think I did something wrong or do I have a bigger/different problem. Suggestions? Milage 150K.

It had ND which I assume were Nippon Denso and the new ones were NGK. I don't know right now the exact plug number but the new ones are a platinum plug.
