Hey all I just wanted to speak up about lag in response on the Gen 3 Tacoma’s performance.
I live in Colorado where the roller coaster HWY I70 lives. Just in a short 250miles from Denver to Glenwood Springs you will drive over 5 passes ranging from 5000 feet to 11000+ feet in elevation.
The truck does fine however it constantly hunts through gears. The answer to this is The “Orange Virus Tune”
I highly recommend It. After I installed the tune my truck came alive. Hunting for gears greatly decreased. After 1000 miles in the city the performance tune settled in and not only did my response become more consistent but my gas mileage climbed from 15 to 17 in the city. (Stop and Go traffic) this is also with 33 tires.
I just took a trip to Leadville the highest city in the US . I drove very conservative and averaged 20 mpg again with 33 inch tiers 10 ply weighing at 93lbs each, and a 3 inch lift. I also have an after market rear bumper from Fab 4 that weighs 120 lbs.
that is not the cool part. The Cool part is my truck Down shifted far less and stayed in gear far more. Hunting for gears to maintain speed was at least 50% less then with out the tune. I would bet if I ran the original Tire size at 30 inches and 16 rims weighing at 62 lbs the response would be even more great.
I hope this helps all of those whom are inquiring about the tune.

Do you keep ECT on? And which tune did you go with? 87/91? Performance or base?

Just curios! I have the tune on 87, thinking of jumping up to 91.

I used the 91 octane tune with the performance selection.

What do you mean gear lock? I never really used the ECT power haven’t needed it and not sure if it really works.
