    Im thinking about going to a local drag race strip and im wondering what tuner i should get. I'm really new to this stuff. What im really looking for is speed and horsepower of course and it wouldnt hurt to have some better gas milage. any ideas guys? thanks, really appreciate it

    There are no traditional plug and play tuners for Toyotas. Look at the URD MAF which only works in open loop mode(full throttle or high load situations) or a fully piggback ECU like the UCON-EMS or Unichip piggyback unit.

    Theres apr x1 and unichip both cost a lot and if you want power out of your truck get a supercharger

    And also- Don't expect more power and better MPG at the same time. You may be able to run different maps to get different results- but making power ain't cheap and no computer tuner is going to do it all by itself.

    Good stuff whippersnapper. :thumbsup: Edit on the MAF cal though. Open loop, instead of Closed loop.

    Another good point about the UCON EMS, from www.urdusa.com, is that is comes with exhaust cam gears, and a cooler than stock thermostat. The benefits of those combined, is that your cylinder/combustion chamber temperatures will run cooler. Thus, a little more timing can be safely added to the tune, and you will pick up HP/TQ. That is only one feature of the ucon.

    As compared to say the unichip, which has neither thee t-stat or gears, and adds some timing. (Preferably after tuned by a professional, and not Unichip's base map.)

    Under the Magnuson Moss Act, they would have to prove thqt the MAF Cal has done anything to damage your vehicle in the specific area which it relates to. Thy cannot void your whole vehicle warranty.

    Just an FYI----

    The unichip controls the fueling exactly the same way as the URD MAF Sensor Calibrator. Also, the unichip cannot alter fuel mixture in closed loop mode like we can do with the URD O2 or AFR Sensor Calibrators, or the UCON-EMS.
