turbo charge 96 2.4L

Hey guy I have a 1996 2.4L with 270,000 miles. I drive it daily and take it on adventures. Lately I have been fueling up more often. A friend told me to put a turbo on it. Any ideas on what i could do to increase fuel mileage. I have owned the truck since 2009 (with 114,346 miles) and have had no problems till now.

Change your fuel filter first...and run some fuel additives in your next several tanks of gas.

 

What he said, plus check injectors, fuel lines for leaks ect. There is plenty of other areas that drain mpg and fuel consumption. Yeah, the 2.4 can handle a turbo and setup, but unless you can keep off the fun peddle, mpg will turn into smiles per gallon

 

I have a 96 with the 2.7l and was hinting around about installing a small turbo on it.My sons chevy Cruze has a small turbo and its only a 1.4l and if will smoke my Tacoma.

 

It will smoke itself long before the Tacoma will be gone.

My dad bought a full size chevy and tried to tow a car out of a ditch, the chevy's fram taco'ed itself!

 

My sons cruze has 150,000 on it,,and he runs the hell out of it,,,still putting along.
