Huh never seen that. But that looks like it's an intercoller for the snorkel? Or is it for the turbo?

Yu can make any intercoller work with the right tubing work.

I had to double check, but it says "[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Matched to the turbocharger air delivery in lb/min".

I see what your saying but what I was thinking is like, would it cool the air enough to be worth it, or would it require so much irregular pumping that it would kill to much performance. I guess it's hard to know just by looking at it.

The way I thought of making the snorkel working is somehow making the stock air box still work just to hose a cone filter and cut a bigger outlet to fit to the turbo.

Would a traditional intercooler survive off-roading?

You'd have to find a way to mount it. That is specific to the Landcruiser 70 series. They do have some cool stuff for those diesel Toyotas though.

Yeah I was just wondering because, aside form being designed by safari for the snorkel and probably more rugged, it also looks pretty compact. The intercooler in the CXracing pics looks pretty low slung for such a soft metal (it's aluminum right) and also looks like it would interfere with an off-road bumper or winch mount.

Idk, just thinking out loud, and trying to give anyone with deeper pockets than me some ideas.

I would think for the $10k it would be cheaper to put an LS1 in the engine bay! lol.

Hey scotty can you post up a few specifics like the turbo size, psi your running and what fuel mods you have with it?

With high engine load and low air flow, may want to consider an electric fan mounted on intercooler :notsure:.
This. And WHP? CXRacing claims 300-500 WHP which I find a bit optimistic...

not at all optimistic. Very possible with that trubo to hit those numbers. Just depends on how far you want to push it and fuel you can provide.

Based on the two most documented 5vz turbo's, with homemade builds which produced 350-400Hp and 450-500Tq, I would guess in that range. With cams, forged pistons, new gaskets, head studs and proper engine/fuel management though..... who knows?

well over 500hp. But id twin charge it at that point cause due to the low rev of the 5vz to make that with just a turbo your power band would suck. With a SC and turbo..still be awesome.

The only guy i've seen try twin charging was this guy http://www.whyturbothat.com/srunnermain.html Ctrl+F it. It didn't run very well.

From what I gather, a 5vz shouldn't have trouble spooling a turbo at low rpm as long as it's a modern brand name turbo and it's the right size.

Im sure you could hit 500hp easy with the right turbo..but it wouldn't be very useable.

I posted that supra that was twin charged and running strong.
