Hmm well I guess it's a good option for a lot of the people who already have superchargers and don't want to part with them.

I think Blackdawg is a brother from another mother.

Turbo kits often have a "sky is the limit" factor. The turbo manifold, exhaust and fuel/EMS mods provided, power is simply up to turbo sizing and how high you want the wastegate to go. I can't speak for the durability of the CXracing turbo itself, but as far as boost goes, tossing the turbo and going with a brand name unit, its still cheap retaliative to other platforms. Provided the proper fuel and exhaust mods, I'm sure the engine will be far past its limits while the turbo kit still has a lot of room to go.

I wouldn't call that link twin charged, I would call that compound boost. Also "not running good", the guy was throwing the MAF location around and talking about tuning/EMS as an after thought.

IMO the terminology should be used as so:
Compound boost= S/C and turbo charger, the S/C never goes offline, simply superchargers as normal then compounds the boost made by the turbo after it spools up. Makes for a Vtec on steroids feel, but comes at the cost of a) below turbo spool your just at the S/C's PSI, b) the S/C is also compounding the heat put into the charged air c) the S/C remains a parasite to the crank, sucking over 30hp if not more.

Twin charge= S/C functions as normal, but when the turbo starts to spool, the S/C is bypassed, thus keeping charge air temps within reason, and reducing S/C parasitic drag from over 30hp down to around 2-3hp.

I am aiming to twin charge since I already have the S/C on, and more than capable management and fuel. IMO the challenge will be the custom electro-mechanical setup to make the transition possible and smooth.

This is a cool thread. My buddy and I were just talking about throwing a T3/T4 at my truck. Have you guys considered Megasquirt for fuel management? They've got a lot of plug and play stuff out there now...

57mm turbo, 10-12psi with the new injectors in it. He is running an AEM FIT managment system. 550cc Bosch injectors.

We have not dyno'd it yet as we need to get the injectors installed as well as the Transgo shift kit installed into the A/T.

Keeping in mind you get what you pay for, The Addicted Offroad kit looks to have components that are good from the start, vs. having to swap turbo, wastegate etc on a cheaper kit to bring it up to par. Good looking hardware.

Crazy to see such a vacuum for 5vz turbo systems, then all of a sudden there are options.

You didn't go with the Densos?

A few weeks ago I was talking to a shop about isntalling one of these and mentioned it in a build thread to keep me reminded about this as an option. I'm very very curious to read a review after its done. My plan is to install it with the more moderate setting, as I do not want jerky shifting, just fast enough to handle the added power. I have 200K on the tranny and the shop is stressing it should be rebuilt as well. Blue clutch packs as well?

DIY tuning has a lot of PNP stuff coming out, but as of right now none for the 5vz that I know of- I would imagine a few big reasons is the many variances in connectors between year models, and the lack of automatic tranny control in the MS2/microsquirt variant being used for the PNP setups. In the mean time, the big daddy MS3pro can be made to be PNP/parallel OE ECU setup for a lot of 5vz setups- link.

IMO the PNP AEM FIC should handle the kit fine up to the holding power of the OE internals. For more balls-out builds, standalones become very benificial.

Since you are dealing with a 6 cylinder engine, if I were getting a Haltech or any other aftermarket ECU, I would get one that does FULL Sequential injector tuning for 6 cylinders. Makes tuning much much easier. Versus semi-sequential. Can* save fuel when properly tuned, compared to semi-sequential as well.

However, it can still be tunec in and work fine with semi-sequential, so don't let my opinion deter anyone.

    I would do this - http://www.haltech.com/product/platinum-sport-series/the-platinum-sport-2000/

and wire it into the plug n play extension harness from URD. That way you don't have to cut the factory wires. Would work with the Sprint 500, Platinum 1000, 2000, or any of the other brand ECU's.

    http://urdusa.com/Electronics-Plug-N-Play-Harnesses/c66_124/index.html

All of the Haltechs have addition user outputs which could be used to control a 7th injector.

Quality parts with care and attention at fab and install, prevent problems.

lol tell me about it. Same here....

btw I found this. Rear-mounted turbo 4Runner off-roading. In his build page he says lag hasn't been an issue.

All of theirs are. Read up on them. They also have the ability to prevent your oem ecu from throwing codes, for not being in control of the injectors, AFR, MAF, or whatever else.

It is in the links.

I was only referring to the three ECU's of theirs that I previously mentioned. The Sprint 500 is actually on the left of the screen in the link you posted.

Yea i have seen that 4runner. THere is a build thread on customtacos.

    Basically ripped off STS.

I still wouldn't want a rear mount due to offroading personally. Also know a guy that had one and didn't like the rear so went front mount and it ripped harder.
