Haltechs are pretty good, I like their software settings to allow one to not have to modify the PCB for operation with OE temp sensors.

DHwreckage, I didn't notice you linked the emulator. On a side note, I do not see how that would keep modern OE ECU's CEL free. Maybe very dated systems, but making an IGF output might be a little more involved than what they have, and it does not defeat the OE ECU needing to see that it has control of air fuel ratios. Your just not going to be CEL free with a standalone as of now.

With the MS3Pro, the CEL light wiring is high jacked and the MS3 has it's own light parameter settings, giving you a functional CEL light for things such as sensor failures.

    I don't even know anymore
Figured i'd throw in another 3.4 Turbo.

1987 SR5 pickup with a 3.4 swap. Holset HX35, custom manifolds running off both heads, 550cc injectors, and a MAF/timing calibrator. Wastegate is set to just under 10PSI.

I'll post up a build on it once its gets dynoed.

interesting setup especially since the 87s have the exhaust on the other side.

Well since ive leaning towards this kit, basically just the manifold and stuf lets talk about turbo size. Let me start with this I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT TURBOS. and since you supra and lexus guys live by them guve me a run down on turbo sizing you would think would be best for our engines cause i know youve already been thinking about it. and before you start going on about tech specs i know what A/R and trim is. also have you given any thought into turbos that come off cars or diesals to use like RTI? i just kind of want to get an idea of the sizes to look for.

Whats wrong with the T4 the kit comes with? Assuming you want to stick with the relatively cheap Turbonetics Turbo's, you can go smaller and get boost sooner with a T3 (this may be too small but with only a 5500 redline, you might get away with it) or in the middle with a hybrid T3/T4.

I see nothing wrong with the turbo that comes with the kit size wise. Its a tad bigger but the T3 exhaust side will counter that making faster spool. Id personally go with a .58 AR though I know its really small. But damn it would spool freaking fast.

The only potential problem with the kit turbo is longevity. Its probably a pretty cheap turbo.

Turbonetics seem to have a good rep for quality. They aren't the best but def a great deal for the money.

Turbonetics is a good brand. So is Precision.

This kit just comes with a no name though or is it a turbonetics?

yea. Which isn't a big deal to run for a while. No need to spend 1200 on a new turbo right off the bat. It'll work for a while.

could get a holset turbo for much cheaper, on a second note can you get a HX35 or he351cw with T4 flanges?

I don't know what flange Holsets come with. Never looked much into them. The AR ratios are usually a tad big for my liking generally.

yea RTI is running one as well as another Taco i just saw today or yesterday that posted a video in what youve done to your 1st gen, seems like a good way to get a durable and reliable turbo, i wonder when they spool up, i would ideally like full spool around 2-2.5k.

Wakes up..and full boost..2 different things..

full boost = what your boost controller is set at..so like 10psi or whatever..

waking up = any sort of boost IMO really around 4psi you'll start to feel it..

waking up a 2k..very easy. Full boost higher the as low as 2.5k is gonna be damn hard

For some reason, I thought I read Turbonetics. They don't really specify though... Oh well, Im sure its good enough for a starter.

yea its just a CXracing turbo. They are cheaper turbos..but they work for a while. Nothing crazy and nothing super efficient.

does the exhaust manifold for this kit have a flange that accepts both T3 and T4? thats what it looks like and if so that would solve the holset trubo problem since they only come in T3. i ask because the description only says its a T4.
