It was an easy install. Just give yourself plenty of time. Not sure what kind of shop would install one, though.

cool. the most work if done is install my catback. so i shouldnt have a problem. i mean it comes with instructions, right? so i should be fine. i just checked their website. alpine developments has a S/C but its only applicable on 1999-2004 tacomas. it is for the 2.7. but would it still fit on my 08??

So I suppose that my buddies supercharger for his '02 V6 wont fit on my '05 V6? I don't see why it would, but for the chance to save the cash I gotta ask. And if not, why not? Is there any way to modify it so that it would work?

no, 3.4 >> 4.0... won't fit.. however for power on the op's 4cyl.. definitely recommend Turbo. You won't get great power gains on a 4 banger with a S/C..

yeah im not really looking for "racing" power, but more or less power that i can actually use on the hihway. with a turbo i got to reach a certain rpms for that to kick in. s/c its there whenever i need it. i dont have to jump on it to get some HP

Low boost turbo is efficient.. say 7-10psi and you only need minimal tuning (little to no lag). The power gains aren't that great for the 4cyl S/C but if you're just looking for a little highway push, then that'll probably be best. I would recommend a piggyback or larger injectors/fuel pump though.

I have ran both turbos and super chargers in the past and the super charger is the way to go no lag and your motor will stay cooler, with a turbo you will need alot of air to cool it down.

It all comes down to where you want your power....

S/C for low end immediate boost, good for off road grunt..

Turbo if you want freeway power

However there are always exceptions to the rule.
I chose turbo since I am 2wd and dont really need the low end, just more juice on top. 18psi feels really good, especially when that speed racer guy in the Modded mustang wants to "try" and show you whats up..:D

Dont let Chris4x4 hear that-he had a pretty nasty SC setup on his 2000 2.7

Nada...need some guidance there it's going to see a lot of highway mileage not just trail miles.
My question is which would be better or more viable for flat open desert running and highway driving?

well. if your totally flat running, i would go with a turbo set up. but for performance throughout your RPMs, go with a supercharger.

Easy question... What do you want your power band to look like (low rpm, med rpm, high rpm)?

1 - high power, high power, high power
2 - low power, med-high power, really high power

*note this is most cases.. not all.
