So has anyone else here actually turbo or supercharged their 4.0 V6 Tacoma? If so, I be interested in seeing the set up and the dyno #s of before/after installation. NOTE, I did see XrunIT's set up.

We have a fix for that now..

The battle of S/C vs Turbo will go on forever. They both have huge advantages and disadvantages. One will not always be better then the other.

At the end of the day, Boost > N/A.

TRD S/C'd trucks are gonna be in for a big boost in power here very soon. APR Stage II kit is being released.

Hope to see some TRD blown trucks in the very high 300whp range, possibly even in the 400whp range. And torque.. can you say almost 400ft-lbs at 2500rpms... mmmmm....

From what I've read here, the 6-spd transmission wouldn't hold that much horse power. I don't know what the auto trannys are rated at though. Though usually manual trannys are stronger.

This may be a no-brainer, but does a S/C or Turbo void the factory or any extended warranty?

Actually, The auto in the Tacoma is much stronger than the 6 speed.

I know of a good many boosted trucks that are putting down more torque then that, and haven't had any issues. To date I can't name any one who's blown the tranny because of too much power. Clutch, oh ya, many times, but never the trans.

I want to do the supercharger in the future, but not for racing though. I had a WS-6 for that. The 6-spd I had on that would have ripped apart the rear end before killing itself, the auto on the other hand usually was the first to go.

It really depends on what you want it for (application)
I do not have either one but here is what i know about them. a turbo will not give you any extra low end power do to the lag time for it to kick in. It runs off your exhaust so the more eshuast flow you have (higher rpm) the more boost you're going to get. Trucks are typically supercharged because the boost is run off of the crankshaft. somehow this is better for low end torque applications. (like trucks) If you just want top end power (like racing) then a turbo is all you need.
Also not sure if your familiar with the boost thing. both superchargers and turbos work by forcing more air in to the engine. More air means more fuel to maintain a correct air to fuel ratio. more fuel means more power. The more boost (air pressure) in your intake the greater amount of fuel is added.
A supercharger will use hp from your motor (from crankshaft) to produce forced induction. A turbo will just use your already flowing exhaust to get forced induction.

I am by no means well educated on this matter. This is just what I recall from when I did my own research on them. Any other members please feel free to correct any incorrect statement I have made. Hope this helped some.

go with turbo. a turbo has the potential to out power a sc if built right.
