Hey there guys, I am about to adventure into the world of boost. The truckload of parts will be here next week. And yes I know a 4 banger is not the ideal engine to turbo, but I’m ready for the challenge. My goal is to achieve 5psi and still be reliable. I tried to get everything for as cheap as possible while piecing together the kit. I will update you guys along my journey and I would appreciate any questions or advice!

hey does anyone know where to hook up the oil feed line on the engine? It would be greatly appreciated, I cant seem to find a good spot to. The oil pan is already prepped for the oil return.

The four banger is the most ideal to boost, far easier than the V6. Your engine has good history with boost. But you didn't hear it from this guy and his boosted 4 cyl.

I have your engine's older brother, the 3RZ-FE, same bottom end exactly (even the pistons and crank interchange) but I don't have the fancy variable valve timing stuff you do. Mine is supercharged on 5-6psi with larger injectors, huge Aeromotive fuel pump, boost referenced FPR, and water/methanol injection system. I'll be installing a piggy back (AEM FIC6) when I turn the boost up to 11psi. Currently building a turbo Nissan 300ZX so it might be a while before I start messing with the truck's boost again though. As she sits with the 5-6psi though it makes about 225HP.

Here's a pic of the truck and engine bay...

If you need any help, I'm here.

I've boosted my 2TR and have no issues (besides a SAIS CEL, but I just haven't gotten the Hewitt Bypass done yet).

You can check my build thread in my signature for more information if you need it, as well. Be ready to swap your clutch shortly after!

The oil feed I have tee'd off from the oil pressure switch, right above the oil filter. There's also unused ports on the oil filter housing that can be used. I'll try and find a pic for you, for reference.

Where did you tap your return line on the pan? It needs to be the upper pan, as the oil level is very close to the top of the lower pan, and will block drain flow.

I tapped the upper oil pan for the return, you can see here circled in red.

Im tapping it as high up as possible. A picture of your oil feed location would be appreciated!

And is the SAIS CEL in the way of the turbo? Or are you just trying to free up space?

The SAIS is mounted on the stock exhaust manifold.
Once you swap it out for the turbo manifold, there's no place for it to mount to.
