Nevermind... definitely did not need all the crap from the people here. Sounds like a bunch of Toyota employees.

Sorry for venting, I tried to enjoy this truck for the past 7 months but these issue continues to get worst and I do not understand why Toyota will not do anything!

Tranny and Rear diff oil levels were ok. so they said.

Most people don't post much while attempting to lemon the vehicle.

I get it, hes pissed and wants to vent, but if he would kindly call his attorney and ask if posting about his case on the internet is acceptable he will quickly wind up removing said complaint. Even after your case youll most likely sign paperwork saying that you wont talk about your case or issues.

Sorry to hear about your truck and hope the court favors on your side. Mainly I hope this because (if) it is an issue then others with it might get some resolution too. Luckily for me, my 16 DCOR does not have the rear diff howl or erratic shifting at almost 13K miles. If it did I would be pushing with my dealer as well. Seems like there are a lot of crap dealers out there. Mine is awesome so far. I did have the kazoo sound. Took it in no questions asked and it was fixed. My daughter's BF on his had the trip reset issue. He kept good history showed this same dealer and his entire cluster got replaced with no questions asked. You got a shit dealer talking crap about you to the Toyota rep behind your back.

hmmm I guess I am the only one that is not complaining about the 3rd gen,I had a 2016 and the only thing I had Toyota do was the reflash for the transmission and it woke up my truck and it shifted better,so far the 2017 hasn't given me the same shift issues I had with the 2016.

It would probably be less expensive and time consuming in the long run to just trade it in for something else, my .02.

A successful lemon law case entitles you to every penny you ever put into the vehicle including payments, downpayments, registration, even mods to a certain degree. Most settlements also include attorney fees so you don't actually come out of your pocket nearly anything. Time however is another story...

Depends on the individual state. Some states allow lemon vehicles to be resold but Toyota has to disclose that the vehicle was repurchased for XXX reasons. Other states don't allow it at all and Toyota takes the vehicle and auctions it off to a different state. Check your states laws to see what your state says as each is different

It's interesting you compare it to a supercharger whine. I started getting a similar whine in my Subaru's rear diff when coasting after I replaced the oil with 75W90 synthetic. In my case the diff was quiet for 3 years on factory oil, so I was reasonably confident the diff was mechanically set up right. The diff oil is up for replacement this summer, at which point I'll try 75W140.

I wonder if the whine in 3rd gen Tacos is caused by Toyota going to a low-drag oil for fuel economy? i.e. it may well be just a noise that doesn't affect durability.

This would be a pretty sweet deal if it was true. And if it is true, why isn't Toyota saying this instead of "Its normal?"

They started using 75w-85 back in the 2nd Gen and they are silent.

^My Subaru is specified with 75W90. I put in 75W90 synth after 3 years and got the whine. :notsure: There's more to the effect of oil than viscosity number. The additives and friction modifiers make a difference. The viscosity number also spans a wide range. At 40C, one oil can be at 20 centistokes while another can be at 50 centistokes, and they would both be considered 75W. Is it possible the 20 centistoke oil causes whine while the 50 centistoke oil doesn't? Maybe. :notsure: Whatever the factory fill was on my 2010 Taco was pretty quiet. I replaced the oil with 75W90 synth after a year, then got some chatter. I replaced the oil with 75W140 after 3 years and the chatter went away. :notsure: ECGS recommends non-synth oil for Toyota rear diffs, supposedly because it clings to the gear surfaces better.

And nothing says factory fill is the same as the replacement specified in the owner's manual. We know the factory power steering fluid is different, for example.

Same story with guns, right? Better accuracy with brand X ammo than brand Y, even though both conform to SAAMI specs?
Because the average American prefers a simple answer? :notsure: Toyota's definition of normal is the truck behaves as designed, or behaves the same way as other trucks coming off the line. It doesn't necessarily mean it behaves as you expect. ;) The throttle hang on 2nd gen 6-speed is obviously undesirable from a driver's perspective, but it is as-designed.
