Stay on man! You will eventually catch one looking for love! Just don’t call too much when you get one to respond. They go nuts where I live if you get them interested and then stop calling for a while. Once they come looking maybe do a light call or two. You probably know all this stuff but figured I would mention how I’ve been getting them to commit. Best of luck bro.

I havent looked at our regs about that. I have seen a few hens with beards. My first one was technically a double bearded but it wasnt too impressive second beard...lol

I'm actually in Idaho right now and trying for both. Coyotes killed a doe on my dad's property last week. And the turkey, last deer season I saw them daily and would just walk right along side them taking pics and video. This will be my first try at turkey. Been following this thread for a while and taking notes.

Call sparingly especially if one answers back. Turkeys are smart and very in tune to movement etc. Best of luck bro!

All this talk about killing Turkeys and not using decoys. I am 60 when I started hunting Turkeys we had NO decoys like today. It was rough just using a box call or a scratch call. and we had old Army camo for cover.
Clothing Technology today is great and I take advantage of it.(I still do not own a decoy)

Yeah, that's probably most of why I don't use them. There were no decoys when I started either, so it kinda feels like cheating, to me. And, I wore woodland (USMC) camo yesterday. I'm just very "old school" school about it.

I take advantage of the clothing that you can get nowadays but I still do not own a decoy. I kinda like being warmer while waiting on Turkeys now that I am older.

Good luck! They got their hens right now so they arent going to be coming to a call very easy. Seems like once the hens start sitting on eggs then they are more apt to come to a call.

we couldn't find them where we could shoot but heard them over on neighbors property. We were trying for coyote mostly though. Trying out a predator call for first time.

at this point I'm going to fish at Round Lake in the morning and then drive home.

Got him! Video to come later of the shot. This is the same bird from the trail camera pic I posted earlier, notice the middle fan feather:

I used my bow and Magnus Bullhead broadheads (shotgun was used by the guy I was sharing a blind with). Pretty effective, dropped the bird right in its tracks!
