Is there any way to turn off the auto unlocking of the vehicle when I pull on the handle? I don't want any sort of unlocking automation at all. I want to have to press the button on the fob to unlock the car. Is there any way to make that happen?

I want to and am totally fine with disabling any "safety" feature where it will let me lock the key in the car. I've never locked a key in the car in my life and if it ever happens, I will deal with it, so I don't need the hand holding that prevents me from doing that. I'd like to turn that off.

If anyone knows how it's possible, please let me know!

I promise I am not saying this in a condescending way....but one solution is just to press the button on the key fob before you get to the door. Problem solved. That feature isn't there to prevent you from locking the key in the truck. The feature is for convenience of not having to press the fob button to unlock the door - in your case, quite ironic.

But really, I don't know of a way to disable the door handle unlock feature. Maybe ask your dealer at the next service.

Probably Just unplug the door handle, if there is no option for complete disable in the headunit options. You can do this from behind the door panel, but I’m sure there is an easier plug to access. If you look in the thread about adding the passenger sense handle I’m sure you’ll find it in there.

    Unplug the smart handle.

Or, it looks like the dealer can disable it:

    Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

It's not that I only want to unlock the key with the fob. It's that I keep the key inside the car and lock it remotely... so I don't want the car to unlock if someone tries the handle. Yes, I can keep it in an RFID bag, but I would rather not have to do that if I don't have to because they tend to drain the fob battery and also aren't 100% reliable in some instances. I am taking the car in for a headunit replacement tomorrow anyway, so hopefully I can explain to them how to turn off the smart key system.

Page 592 on your user manual.

Just do it through your infotainment. I did mine so it opens all the doors when I touch it.

I could use another fob, but I use a Viper Smartstart system, which I can lock/unlock from anywhere with my phone.

You can't turn off the unlock feature through the infotainment that I can find.

You can also turn off the fob by holding the lock button, then pressing unlock twice.

I lock the fob inside when I go surfing and carry the spare key with me.

You can temporarily deactivate the fob:

Press and hold lock on remote
    2x press unlock

i would have to be another 3rd gen owner and their fob would have to match yours, slim to none chance.

That only affects when you park the car. It doesn't affect the auto-unlock on approach/exterior handle, unfortunately.

Not sure what you mean by this. If the fob is in the vehicle, it won't lock and even if it does, it will unlock when you pull the handle.

Not sure if this would work or if this even exactly what you're looking for, but I'm thinking you could take apart a fob and remove the battery, and then remove the start button from the dash. Attach the electronics from the fob (without the battery) to the start button (zip tie, electrical tape, velcro, etc...) and then reinstall the start button back into the dash. Then disconnect the wiring from the door handle inside the door. Then you use a second fob to lock and unlock. The draw back to this plan is that your truck is really easy to steal if anyone smashes a window and presses the start button.
