I saw someplace that there’s a blue wire that needs to be grounded out to turn the dash light off for Tmps.

I would like to try it but have a question. By disconnecting the box will the on board diagnostic computer system read a code or if one of the sensors go's bad will the on board diagnostic system read a code ? I ask because when we go through emissions to renew our tags here in Arizona they hook a computer to the OBDS.

Later trucks don't get ground.....they get juice! The ecu sends 5v to the led on the dash to turn it off.

I took the gauge cluster apart and just pulled the led. Took me about an hour and a half total. I ripped out the seatbelt dinger too

Has anyone tried replacing the battery in the sensor? is that even do-able? Seems like it would be an easy cure.

The seatbelt dinger could be turned off on the early 2nd gens. I forget the process, but it only took a minute.

TPMS doesn't show up in the diagnostics report here in RI. Does it for Arizona?

Replacing the battery on a tpms sensor? Those things are sealed permanently with gunk.

Tire shop will install after market sensors for $60/per.

Dealership - $350 for one. $250 for each additional!

Not opposed to safety features but this is near scam level planned obsolescence.

Considering we didn’t even have cordless phones 45 years ago, I would consider a radio transmitter, that runs off a watch battery, that lasts for 7 years, to be damn near alien technology.

I think the defect is it costing as much as it does to get them to work with no civilized way to clear the error. Especially if the dealer is charging up to $1350 to replace because the batteries died.

Imagine if your seatbelt stopped working every 7-10 years. If it is such an important safety feature then it shouldn’t have such a short shelf life. If it’s just a battery then the battery should be serviceable when you get new tires.

I did this a few weeks ago to prep for the new wheels because I don't believe in idiot lights...

It was a bit different on my 07. The wire in the glovebox side needs 12v power and NOT ground. Just an FYI for anyone having issues getting this to work.
