Will, which method worked? Removing the controller in the headboard or clipping the wire near the ECU?

Mine works as intended, has for 14 years. During that time, it has notified me of two slow leaks, and seasonal temperature swings which add/subtract about 3 psi, which I would have found anyway, since I visually check all four every time I walk by the truck. I will pick up on how they look at correct pressure, scuff marks, tread wear, etc. I only check the spare when outside temp changes enough to trip it.

I don't really need or want TPMS, but it's there, might as well use it to my advantage.
What I DO need is for all systems to work properly. Keeps my truck worth top dollar. I may get an offer I can't refuse.

It became federally mandated around 2008 due to the Ford Explorer/Firestone tire fiasco.. that’s why tire stores technically can’t remove them without replacing them with new sensors.

Why not just properly inflate your tires?

Next in the sequence it will activate a buzzer and start screaming at you.

‘Disconnecting the cable to the roof tpms receiver’ is an easy method just does not work on a 2008 Tacoma 4.0L SR5 4WD access cab. I did this in 5 minutes. Wiring must be slightly different on older model years.

If anyone is interested in disabling the TPMS in a 2006 4wd DCSB i can verify following steps 13 on in the link below worked for me. Ignore steps 1-12.

Very simple. Just find the small while connector taped to a wire black mass of wires the far right behind the glove box. It’s this lone white clip on the right side. Jamb a wire where the blue wire is (position 4) and ground that wire on the nut right above.

...no cutting of wires and can be returned to factory in 2 minutes.

Benzy, do you have a pic available of the actual finished procedure? Cheers Race

A pic would be great. I crawled under the dash today and the only connector was black, the blue wire was in the #4 slot but grounding it caused a no-start on the truck. Every other connector is white but not as mentioned and not alone.

I followed Benzy’s instructions on my 2006 access cab and it worked perfectly for me. No more light. This took a few minutes and is easily removed.

Some more detail. Take the glove off or down like you are going to change the cabin filter. The white connection is to the right of the cabin filter taped to the right most wire loom. Twist the connector to see it better and push in a thin wire below the blue wire in position 4. Then ground the other end of the wire to the bolt near the cabin air filter.

I must be lucky... coming up on 13 years and the system works fine. I don't rely on it, but it does give me a heads up when the cold weather rolls around.

I replaced all the sensors on my 06 pre runner. Disabling a safety system isn’t in my playbook.

Worked perfectly for me too. Nice to finally have a decent solution to the problem. Unlike some that like a reminder, I check my pressure often and know when I need to make changes. Now I'm not dealing with TPMS sensors that are crap at best.

My opinion is biased maybe. Here’s how it went down

traveling on New Year’s Day nothing is open I’m in a remote area and the tpms light comes on. I had picked up a nail and had a leak. It gave me enough time to figure out a safe place to change it and get to a place that was open. It saved my ass that day.

TPMS has notified me of a couple slow leaks in 14 years, like a loose valve core. But mostly I use it to tell me when cold/hot temps have changed the tire pressures. Handy. 14 years, still on the originals.

I just live with the light on. My aftermarket rims and tires do not have a TPMS stems installed. Might try the switch idea!

A member just messaged me about this asking what I did. I have a 2007 Tacoma. I powered a blue wire with 12v from an unused plug. I believe this provides a signal to ecu that the tpms computer is installed. Here's a picture.

Found the tpms box on my 2006 dcsb in the same location behind the rear passenger coat hook and it did NOT disable the light on my dash when I removed the clip :/
