I have a 2001 tacoma I let sit for 3 months, now whenever I turn on the right blinker it cuts off the truck. The light blinks fast but all the bulbs are working, the truck won't start with the blinker on but it will turn over. It also happens with the hazard lights. There was a while yesterday when everything was fine but it's back to being screwy. Any idea where I should start?

    neglect, mostly.
damn. never heard of that. you have a short of some kind if it's blinking too fast. flip it on, walk to back of the truck and see if its flashing there. if its not, give it a good pop with your fist (seriously, it works a lot). but my guess you have a more serious problem.

I had a simular issue with my 01. When I turned the lights on the truck cut off. Found out it was a short where I wired up my trailer light harness. I put some electrical tape on the problem spot and that fixed the problem. I would think you have a short somewhere. Since it sat up for a while maybe a mouse got into some wires. I would locate the wires under your hood for the blinker, trace out the wires and look for the possible area that it is shorting out. Hope this helps.

I was hoping there was a doojigger somewhere ya'll would tell me to change.

They're all flashing, I took the rear apart to see if it was all crody but it looked alright.

You know what, I was changing the oil today and I noticed a little piece of paper right on top of the engine but didn't think anything of it, I'll bet it was rats. Tomorrow I'll try to trace some wires around to see what I can find.

    Thanks fella's,

Def the rodents. One time we left my wifes car at my grandmas cabin for 3 days, came back to get and drove 10 miles before the car shut down. Popped the hood, saw paper everywhere. Popped open the air filter box and it was half way gone. And unfortunately a lot of the paper got sucked into the intake. Cost us a pretty penny to get everything back to normal. Case in point....if you have seen paper, look at your filter!

Alright, I traced the wires until I found two that are cut, they both lead into the same terminal and are screwed into the wall. The problem is they are really hard to get to, they are behind whatever that thing is between the fuse block and the brake reservoir. You think maybe I could loosen the fuse block enough to get it out of the way or is it easy to unplug and take out. The wires are chewed off close to the end so I think it would be easier to hook them with something pull them out and ground them somewhere else. There is a little black wire coming off the negative battery cable that's grounded about a foot and a half away, could I put them behind that, or would I burn my truck down?
