Hey new here...just acquired a 1st gen 2001 tacoma that has been pretty hacked up and trying to get some stuff back under control. Starters is it has no turn signals up front due to fiberglass fender installation and tube bumper. Are there any tube mounted turn signal housings that people have ran if removing the lower bumper section?

Search blinker mod or side marker mod. You can also get trail gear turn signals that clamp onto tube bumpers.

Pretty easy to make brackets to mount LEDlights to your tube bumper. in this case they are bolted to a flat piece of sheet metal

welding clamps to the brackets to attach to round tubing would be simple

This sounds like something I'm looking for. Is there a specific brand or place that sales these types of lights?

They’re kind of pricey - I’m sure you could make something similar for less, but here’s what I was talking about:

    https://www.jegs.com/i/Trail+Gear/5...YE-mOQmzO3pEIS6ZWmrXpVA25kIN0W1saAv_fEALw_wcB

Just make sure your bumper is 1 3/4 tube unless you feel like modifying them.

Yeah just depends on OP’s ability to source for cheaper like I mentioned. I made some headlight filler panel turn signals for cheaper, but I have a bunch of tools required to make them - interested to see which way he goes here.

I didn't like any of the off the shelf options that I could find... They were either to big, stuck out to far, cheaply made, or to dim.

I bought some LEDs that are made for lighting outdoor store signs, and cut some steel plates to enclose them.

It wasn't a cheap option as I had to buy a pack of 200 strips at $70. But I am happy with the end result.

How much current does one strip take? I'd love to relocate my rear fog light which now take the left revers bulb position. I'd love to gat my reverse lamp back, but I need some bright red light to put on the bumper. The key is that it has to be as bright as a stop light.

Thanks, I made it my self. I have a thread on building it.

I'll test the amp draw on my power supply tonight and let you know.

Thanks. The rule of thumb is that a stop light is about 28W incandescent bulb, and that will be equivalent to about 5W LED light (0.4A or more).

Each strip of 3 LEDs is rated at 1.44W I measured the amp draw of 2 strips (6 LEDs) at 12 volts they pulled .24 amps, and at 13.7 volts they pulled .37 amps.

Thanks. I built custom rear fog lights for my 4Runner using four 1.5W Eagle Eye LED lights (actually the real measured power is 0.9W per bulb). So total power was 3.6W.

    upload_2020-10-13_17-15-53.jpg

I was able to be legal only because these bulbs have optical lenses focusing light into 45 degree beam, and that was enough to have the brightness equal to stop lamp.

    upload_2020-10-13_17-18-17.jpg

With unfocused strip light I would probably need three rows - that would take 0.5A (times 9V is 4.5W from LED chip - for the light you need to measure the power at the LED chip excluding power loss on build in diodes and resistors). Now I need to find red ones.

Anyway, good deal on your turn signals. They lok good.
