So I just replaced the clockspring on my 2005 tacoma (not under recall), was a easy job. Now when turning right (blinker) its doesn't auto correct (shut off) when you finish making the right turn. Left works fine, so I took the 2 Phillips screws out and removed the shrouds again from around the steering column and wiggled the blinker stalk a bit and it was working fine in the yard. When I took it for a drive tonight it stopped auto correcting on my first right hand turn.

Is this just a coincidence or did I bump something while I was in there replacing the clockspring? I'm having a hard time seeing even how the auto correct feature even works on the stalk. anyone have any insight into this?

Just an update, I took it all apart again and it seems to work fine until I put that Phillips screw in on the drivers side (holds the steering column shroud in place) This screw actually screws into the turn signal stalk. Seems as though somehow that's messing up the auto correct function of my blinker. So I just clipped the shroud together and put the passengers side Phillips screw in and called it a night. Everything working as it should. Shroud is nice and tight So that screw is in the center console just in case.

Still would like to know if anyone else had an issue like this after replacing their clockspring.

i did when i took off the steering wheel on both my tacoma and corolla...
all i did was push the plastic in and i heard something clip back and it worked ever since lol

with that screw in try putting pressure in that area where the screw goes and see if something pops back in place

I'll give that a try, definitely one of those things that makes you scratch your head.

Just an update I zip tied my clock spring tab to the blinker mount. All plastic pieces covered by steering column trim. The clock spring kinda moves around a bit in there. Not much but enough to mess with the auto correct feature of the blinker. It seems to be working fine now.
