    Hello,

I hope this is the right place to ask, if not please let me know and I'll move/delete from here and post wherever is correct.

    I'm working on my dad's truck, it's a 2022 Tacoma SR5.

He can't hear the turn signal "clicker" due to hearing damage and I'm building a module to make that sound louder for him.

I'm running into the issue of finding the left and right signal wires under the dash. I see some threads about the older trucks but I'm not finding info that seems specific to the 3rd gen.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to locate those wires, or if you know the exact wires then I'd appreciate the guidance

    Thanks for any help!
    Mike

The turn signal flasher is built into the gauge cluster.
You'll need to trace the wires from behind the cluster down to the interior junction box / body ecu.
They go into the fuse box at the 1A Connector on pins 2 (Blue wire) and 17 (Light Blue) for the RIGHT signal.
And in on 1A on pins 3 (Yellow wire) and 19 (Blue wire) for the LEFT signal.

Then out out of the fuse panel on the 1F connector.
Pins 7 (Light Blue wire) of the 1F connector is for the RIGHT signal
Pin 6 (Yellow wire) is for the LEFT signal.

I'd suggest you work with the wires coming out of the 1F connect.
That way, if something goes wrong, you blow the fuse.
If you tap in before, or at, the 1A connector, you wont be fused and can potentially damage the cluster.

Connector C10 connected to the Combination meter is much easier for taps.:burp:

You could also modify the pezio buzzer on the back of the instrument panel, Toyota calls it the Combination Meter.

I’d be interested in just what type of “module” you are building to make more noise. Particularly if others might be able to use it for the same purpose as many here are getting older too.

I haven't done a C10 tap yet. Mine are either tapped from the stalk for the unflashing switched signal, or are fed from the turns themselves... kind of. My turn signal set up is pretty Frankenstein. I tapped the rear turns and ran an 18 gauge wire to the front. That 18 activates a relay, that then allows me to have the dozen or so lights fed off it without worrying about load. The feed to the PAC V41 is fed from that rear tap though. But I digress
The C10 as mentioned by @caribe makaira is a great option. He knows his stuff. As to having it make noise.... back in the day when I used to do car alarms and car audio for a living, we used to like to hook peoples turn signals or brakes to the horn as a joke. They never thought it was as funny as we did, but you could definitely hear the turn signal :D

I'll let everybody know what I land on when we get together and start working on the truck itself. At first I was thinking that I'd pick up the wiring that runs to the trailer lights and use that for signal, but if it's easier to find signal wires under the dash that are separate from the brake light function then I won't have to filter that out.

Just wanted to come back and let ya'll know the resolution to this. Turns out a change to his hearing-aids took care of the problem and he can now hear the clicking ok.
