Turned into a big rock.. looking for some insight

Hey guys,

I parked next to a big rock to go a hike and then after when I was pulling out I forgot it was next to me… yup that stupid.

just looking for some opinions on if I’ll need to buy then two new body parts or if maybe the body shop could fix it for cheaper?

it’s the front fender flare and the front bumper piece. They don’t seem too expensive to buy online for a 2018 sport.
Any input would be great!

Perfect excuse for a shiny new steel bumper

 

Claim it on insurance and repair it if you want it returned to its previous condition or take the money for the repair and buy a steel bumper as suggested here.

push it out , polish it , paint if needed , drive

 

remember the days of Saturn and their plastic body panels? Lol what happened to that?

 

Hah, did the same thing. Was driving up a boulder strewn canyon while sightseeing and looked off to the side at something and then came to a sudden and jarring stop.

It’s a trail badge now and probably will stay as one because I’m not putting more money or weight for extra stuff on my already overloaded truck. You will have to decide which is worth it, a basic repair or adding on more expensive accessories. That viper cut sounds like a good option, I would consider it also for mine. Don’t fret too much over your accident though,

I would heat it up with a hair dryer and then go in from the back with your hand and try to pop it back out. Then take polish, and wax out the scratch as much as you can. Then just drive it

Heat it up and push it back out the best you can for now. In a few weeks it will not bother you nearly as much. Keep an eye out on marketplace for the parts you need in your color and pick them up when they do. Until then….. rock on! Sorry.

 

Do your best to push it out and live with it. No big deal.

 

I'd be more concerned about the tires. Looks like you're ready for a new set.

 

If you have comprehensive coverage turn it in and have it repaired correctly. As is it hurts the value of your truck considerably.

 

I did the same with a trailer. Living with it.

 

I would try a viper cut, and if you don't like the aesthetics of that get a shiny new steel bumper.

All in all I think some of this can be worked out, but some damage will likely be a bit noticeable.

Dam rocks come out of nowhere these days :/

 

come up with a better story, preferably off roading, and then let it be a conversation piece. Chicks dig scars, off road trucks were meant to have scratches and dings.

 

Oh yeah, if you do comprehensive, the rock was moving. They always move when they cause damage, because rocks just sitting there can’t.
