just hopped in my truck, when I went to start it and turn the key I heard a clunk and then one click

Now every time I turn the key I get a simultaneous click, but it’s only once

    Starter most likely.

Make sure your immobilizer program is not flashing when this is happening.

Sounds like a DEAD battery. And to get one so dead it will only click sounds like the alternator died too. If I'm right you'll probably have to replace both the alternator and battery. I couldn't save the battery when my alternator died.

I vote for corroded battery terminals and $19.99 jumper cables.

    Or a bum ground connection.

Bit me on the ass on my 1st gen... drove to the store to get coffee, fired right up at the house, got a click when I went to leave the store. Got one of my coworkers to come jump me, it was a real sonuvabish to get started, but it started & ran. At the time I had an Odyssey, my last of 3 in as many years, so since the other 2 had died I assumed this one was taking a dump, so I bought a battery at work.

Put it in at home, still just clicks. I should've known at this point to step back, and start testing stuff, but I decided to double down, and get a starter. Yep, same thing. I'm thinking my positive cable is going bad at this point, so I clamp my battery tester to the starter stud & the battery negative, and it says it's great... I proceed to: facepalm: and move the negative clamp of the tester to the block, it says it's OK at rest, but hit the key to start & it drops below 9v and the tester shuts off.

I loosen the bolt holding the ground cable to the block, clean up the area and retighten, bam, works fine. It had enough of a ground path through motor mounts and such to the frame to run, but try to run the starter... nope. :homer:

This is my $300 lesson to not get all frustrated with dumb shit, and to take my time and diag stuff right.
