I occasionally drive my father's F150 with a wheelbase longer than my TRDDCLB and it's turning radius is a lot quicker. You'd think my Tacoma would be better, especially in the off road configuration.
Anyone know why this is or whether Toyota has addressed it the for Gen 4?

The wheelbase has been lengthened by 4 inches according to the engineer. One goal was to keep the overall length the same. Track width increased 3 inches by wheel offset. So, theoretically it should be larger turning radius. But, we don't know the turning wheel angle. So no actual numbers until Toyota is ready to release them.

What year was that F150? I drove a 2015 F150 recently and it steered like a boat. I was having to do multipoint turns to navigate the parking garage. Are the more recent models better?

If we go by Tundra precedent, Gen 4 will probably be worse. 2021 Tundra vs. 2022 Tundra:

For the double cab short bed config, the 2022 Tundra has 4.6 ft wider turning circle. That may be caused by the electric power steering rack having a shorter stroke (3.4 turns instead of 3.71).
