I'm all about upgrading as soon as parts wear out. I checked my headers and I think they're in pretty bad shape.

I'm leaning towards leaving your rotors alone and just upgrading the pads.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. You drive a pick up truck, just like me, you should not experience brake fade. Professional racers experience brake fade, not us. If you do, you are probably driving a tad aggressive. Out of all the trucks I have owned ( all the domestics, 1/2-3/4 ton, pick ups, suv) the Tacoma has the best brakes of all them. Hawks and slots ? Really ! Sounds like you just want to spend money, don't get me wrong, they're both great products, but come on man ! Shake yourself !

look for a stamping on your rotors that gives you the minimum thickness allowed.if you do not see a minimum thickness value then you may not be able to safely "turn"your rotors.Example:BMW rotors are at minimum thickness when new on car so you have to replace the rotor as opposed to turning it because there is no "safe minimum"thickness. also make sure your caliper pistons are not "sticking".a stuck caliper will create lots of friction and the heat will warp the rotor.on a simpler note:so will driving through standing water with hot front brakes.hope this helps. i never said the brakes werent good man.....i said i wanted something with better bite, plus everyones truck is different in the way it stops....it has to be, hell, everyone drives different. i never mind an upgrade(as long as the money is where it needs to be;)).

What's the cost difference between oem and Hawks and slots ? You did say in your first thread that the brakes are not bad, and you wanted a better bite. Define what "better bite" means and then divide that by the difference of good brakes and brakes with a "better bite". That's all I 'm saying, maybe my snide remark about shaking yourself was a little over the top. :sorry:

Since roaters are so cheap, I just preffer to get new one with pads. I belive it saves time, money, wear and tear in the long run!
