    Tacoma is bigger!
The Fleetwood wheelbase was 122" for 2nd Gen (last 2 years).
Tacoma DCLB is 140"... 18" longer. The amount of trunk hanging over the ass end of the Caddy doesn't impact its turn radius.

The '85-'88 Fleetwood had the same wheelbase as a Tacoma regular cab!

I drive a 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 single cab with an extended bed for work every day. Now that thing turns like a bus, not to mention hard judgement of where the front is and how far I am to things. And every time I clock out and hop in my Tacoma, it feels like a golf cart compared to the Silverado. But, as you said, you have the Double Cab with a long bed. You cant expect much from a vehicle that long. Just something you have to learn to deal with.
